oh my!!! i was just thinking today about the odd weather we've had here in northern ny state this summer and (beginning of) fall. we're having some of the warmest, even hot, weather of our summer here in early september. in fact, tomorrow is forecast to get to 86 degrees F or higher and friday is forecast to get up to 91 degrees F or higher. if it gets to ninety degrees on friday, that will be the highest temp of the whole summer here. usually when labor day weekend comes, the weather here immediately is starting to be cooler during both days and nights.

Good grief!  That worries me, the Farmer's Almanac predicted a cold winter, didn't they?  We can't handle snow here.  My hat's off to those that can.

oh Canada~
Aaaah, you guys can keep that over there for a while... I just walked home from work at 8:30pm in 25 degree weather, and after the ten minute walk I was sweating. I would choose this over winter this soon.

Oh I am not ready to hear that four letter word!  I did hear the Farmers Almanac said it would be a cold winter.  We've hit close to 100 with heat indexes well over in the last few days.  My friend makes custom children's clothing and we used my 2 as models today.  Of course it's FALL things she is making right now so we hurried and got the pictures done quick!  I really am not ready for cold.  It feels like spring took so long to get here last year that I haven't had enough time to regroup.  We don't normally see good fall color until October; but I do see trees here showing signs of changing and a few random ones dropping leaves.  Even my maples are dropping some green ones.

But no; no snow please!!!!!

But that isn't unusual weather.  It can snow in Calgary any day of the year!

http://www.currentresults.com/Weath...nowfall-totals-snow-accumulation-averages.php

The first snowfall of autumn for Calgary usually arrives in September or October. The season's last snowfall typically happens in April or May. But in some years there is no start or stop to the snow season as it can snow any month of the year in Calgary.

Noooo!

The old farmers aren't infallible, right?  They could be wrong?  I hope.  We have had too many freaky cold winters.  My poor frost-bitten ferals.

Joe B.astardi, formerly the head meteorologist at Accuweather, now runs a long-term forecasting company for corporate clients, utilities, municipalities, etc. He says the Pacific has been in a cooling cycle since 1994, and the Atlantic has just entered a cooling cycle. The result, he says, could be as much as 20 more years of cold winters such as happened about 100 years ago.

I wouldn't mind that right now over the temperatures we've been having. I took my daughter to the park yesterday and only lasted about 15 minutes before having to come home. It was just too hot. It's supposed to cool down after tomorrow and I am looking forward to it.

Alberta weather patterns have never fit the norm. And nothing fits the norm this summer. Going to have the hottest day of the year tomorrow in Ontario. Today's not very pleasant either.

For some reason this doesn't surprise me lol. I have a friend that lives near Edmonton and her weather is always crazy and unusual!

Last winter was absolutely horrible!

So if this meteorologist is right we have to put up with that type of crap for 20 more years????!!!!!!!!  That's very depressing.

I saw on the news last night where some parts of South Dakota received 7 inches of snow! It's the earliest snowfall on record.

Our black walnut tree is the last tree to grow leaves in the spring and the first to lose them in the fall. It's already lost a ton of leaves. And walnuts; I don't think the walnuts are much good this year because we haven't seen squirrels taking them. If the squirrels don't want them, they're not good. And I certainly don't eat walnuts, so we rake them up and then throw them up in the field.

We have started an abnormally cool weather pattern here. The storm that created the snow in the mideast is coming thru here now; the front hit yesterday with very little rain. But our highs next week will only be in the mid-60s, which is way too cool for this time of year.

I am not amused.

Apparently it got down to 16 degrees in Lead last night! OK, that's WAY too cold for this time of year. That concerns me more than the snow. . .snow can come any time, when it's "warm snow" it just melts right away and no big deal. White rain :tongue2:. But not the extreme cold, no, ugh, bad.

It's 45 degrees here in the SE part of the state. And raining. I turned my heat on last night because I was freezing :/.

At 6pm yesterday it was 5 degrees Celsius.  It was colder later in the evening and over night. Not sure what though.  But they were forecasting frost.
