Half my life ago...

I was living in my 2nd apartment in Dallas (off of Skillman & Church, aka Skillman Motor Speedway).

My roommate was my older brother.

We had two cats, Basil & Velcro.

Had started dating an older woman (by 4 years).

Had been out of HS for 5 years.

Was attending the local community college, trying to figure out wth to do w/ my life (still haven't figured it out).

Was a USCF certified  Category 3 Bicycle Mechanic.

Worked at a bike shop as a mechanic.

Regularly rode bikes, both road & mtb, and was in decent shape.

Half my life ago...

I was living in Austin, newly divorced (I refer to him as Practice Husband), self-employed, and living in a big house with two other friends. OMG we had fun. That year for my birthday they threw me a party, and we photocopied 200 invitations. About 400 people showed up during the course of the night. We had the party START at 11:00 pm (how hardcore is that, lol) and it went until 10:00 am the next morning.

I counted 38 bottles of champagne that people brought as gifts but they ended up being consumed - warm, this is in Texas, along with 2 beer kegs (15 gallons each) and countless bottles of beer and wine. At about 3:00 am, a friend of mine who owned a club in town joined the party and saw we were running low on beer, so he went back to his club and brought back another 3 cases to the party.

We had a dance floor set up in a huge rec room in the house, with strobe lights and an awesome sound system (friend who worked with electronics set it up for me). There were TVs in every room playing videos - see previous friend - and there was even a TV on top of the fridge in the kitchen, lol.

At 8:00 am there were only a dozen or so people left, so we all went out to breakfast then had an early-morning photo shoot at the graveyard - an idea prompted by photographer friends.

I didn't get to have birthday parties when I was a kid, but I made up for it later in life!

Thanks for the great question!

Let's see, I had just come back to NJ to live from San Diego after separating from my husband.  There already was an interview  lined up for me thanks to my SIL.  I did get the  job and worked there for 22 years.

My Mom, at the time was living with my sister but we got a place together when I came home.  That lasted a couple of years and then I knew I just had to get my own place, I found a very  nice one bedroom apartment and Mom went back to my sisters.

Wow can't believe that was half my life ago, time sure flies.

Half my life ago...

I was going into 8th grade, working at my aunt's restaurant on Fridays and weekends.

I was about to get my first two lovebirds for my birthmas present at the end of November.

I was recently enrolled in piano lessons with the most useless teacher.

I was probably playing The Sims nonstop, and on graphical chat sites all night selling my first little digital avatars of people's wolf and fox characters.

There isn't really much to say about my life back then since I was a kid.
I think when I look back at this point in my life, there will be a lot more to talk and to think about.

Interesting topic! I like

Half my life ago..

• I celebrated my Sweet 16- had an awesome halloween party in a hall on a beach!

• I had mono towards the end of my school year. I suffered terribly, trying to stay awake enough to study and attend classes. I managed to pass my regents pretty well which was a huge surprise considering!

• I went to Disney, as a Christmas gift from my parents- they enrolled me in a class at the Disney Art Institute.

• I had my first official boyfriend in high school.. we'd dated on and off for the rest of our high school years. parted ways once college started.

• I was 50 lbs lighter!

Side note:

The thing that I like about this question is that everyone has a "half my life ago," and it's a different point in everyone's life. Asking something along the lines of "back when I was 25" or "25 years ago..." leaves people out of the conversation.

Hmmm....  this makes me feel old.  I was a teenager!!  But wasn't I teenager just a couple years ago???

I was living at home and enjoying my summer with my friends.  We were good kids; so for us that was just hanging out, swimming and being goofy teenage girls.  No parties or underage drinking for us.  (I said we were good kids!)  We were planning our adulthood and couldn't wait to finish school and go to college; where we planned to have an apartment for the 4 of us.  Never happened.
Good thing because it probably would have ended the friendships.  My best friend from then is still my best friend.

I had 2 cats and 1 dog; all over the bridge now.  I wasn't totally settled on a college major but I still had thoughts of studying medicine.

I was still spending most of my summer in New York with my Dad and the rest of my family.  My Grandparents were healthy and great hosts for my summers!  I miss that more than being young and carefree.  And bill free.

I was a 29 1/2 year old single Mom of a 10 year old boy. We lived in a small apartment in Central Florida and I worked in a Nursing Home next door. We had a beautiful solid Gray Cat named Mandy and a Terrier Mix dog named Barkley. It seems like yesterday. My life is much different now. I have two small Grandsons and live in The Dallas area. I have a new kitten and a 26 year old cockatiel

I was between trucking jobs and had just started working at a miniscule oil company owned by a high-school friend. That was 1983.

Half my life ago...

I was 11 and a half, going into 6th grade and an awkward tomboy. I was just finishing my first year in Kuk Sool Won (a Korean style martial arts) and loving it. It would also be my second summer playing soccer. When I wasn't training my martial arts skills or playing soccer I would be out at the family cottage with my cousins. My mom's cat Hailie would have still been alive, she passed at the ripe old age of 19 later into my 6th grade year. I also would have had my dog Sara for about 6 months, making her around 10 months old! Sara is still kickin' it back home in Canada with my mom, she's an old lady now almost 14 years old.

Half my life ago, I had just moved out of home with a teenager I barely even knew(we're 3 months in age apart). We just got a flat and very much starting out. At this time I was learning my independence as an adult and well, letting it lose and just being crazy and stupid just because I could!

We are still together 18 years later ;)

Half my life ago I was living and working in Aberdeen, Scotland, my first job outside the U.S. The job wasn't all that great but I loved Scotland. I also did a fair amount of traveling in Europe since it was so close.

Half my life ago...

I started at a 4 year college after spending a year in community college. Not that I had any idea what I wanted to do when I grew up, but I wanted the experience.

I was working 30 hours a week at a bank and two shifts at a grocery store.

I had a roommate I met in an IRC chat room for the school.

I was 70 lbs lighter and thought I was fat.

I fancied myself in love a couple times that year. Now I know it was more infatuation, but I had a lot of fun, when I wasn't making a fool of myself.

Half my life ago:

I was 13 and a half years old, absolutely in LOVE with the Spice Girls, and the newest "boy bands".

I was a book worm, and in love with school! (Still am, to this day:) )

I was just getting into the "girly" stuff as I was quite the "tom boy" before the age of 16.

I was hardcore into Figure Skating, practicing 6 days a week, for 3 hours at a time, and traveled around to compete about once a month! I continued to skate until about a year ago, however stopped skating competitively at the age of 18/19. I was a volunteer coach for many years after, which I really loved and prompted me to become an elementary school Teacher :)

Oh the days of my 13 year old self! Haha!
