Happy Saturday everyone!

How talkative are your cats? When do they meow?

Mine is pretty quiet. He usually only meows to wake me up in the morning, or if I've been ignoring his food for some time. He first lets me know he's hungry by trying to lead me to the kitchen, or putting his paw on my arms if I'm sitting on the chair. If that doesn't work, then he meows. Other than that he doesn't talk much at all. He does make funny squeaky noises when he jumps down from something -- always reminds me of stepping on a plushy toy.

Angel's a little talkative.  If he isn't waking me up on the bed w/ a tap of the paw somewhere on my face,
he will sit on the floor by the bed meowing at me to get up & feed him.  Sometimes, if the front door is shut, he will meow for me to open it so he can look out the glass door.  Once & a while he will meow when looking outside.  He will also sometimes meow while I'm on the phone. ("Mom, your not paying attention to me!")

Mason is my talker, the other 2 don't talk as much as he did.  Mason talks to hear himself talk.  At feeding time however, all 3 scream their heads off.

Mostly when l get home from work. All 3 of them now come to greet me as l come in, and the older two give me a serenade.

Tanner is the most vocal. Unfortunately he's afflicted with not a very pretty meow. lt's more like a deep howl, and he really likes the sound of his own voice.

Bretten has a very nice meow (it's why we call him Pip). lt's a short, sweet sound. He pips when he wants something: pets, toys, lifted up somewhere...

Rhys doesn't meow often. He chirps a fair amount, and he squeaks when he's being petted.

Mooch is fairly talkative.  She and I will have whole conversations.  The only times Noodles gets talkative is when she is hungry or if there is catnip involved. She more chatters for the nip.

Oh wow - I live in a house full of vocal cats :lol3:

My two domestic's they only meow for food or fuss, they are probably the quietest of the bunch.

My six Maine Coons they don't meow often but they chirp, shrill, cheep and squeak all the time. Mainly for no reason at all just because they are awake I think :D

Then there's Cairo the Sphynx, he's very vocal like a Siamese ;) Very loud and high pitched crying/screaming :)

Blighty squeaks for everything. Strokes and to trll me their plates are empty, they're free fed, and leading me with bowl in my hand to it's place. Ivr nrvrr heard him meow and in august he'll have been here a year. Big black and white squeaker from the streets.

Mo yowls in the morning. He knows I'm not giving him anything till he gets up, so he tends to settle down after a few minutes. He'll knead and lick my boyfriend until he smushes him down onto the bed with us. He'll make sad mews when he wants food or attention, and he'll howl if we shut a door on him and he wants attention. If my boyfriend shuts the door to go to the bathroom and I shut the door to the bird room, especially near simultaneously, Mo goes off like an alarm. Sometimes he'll race up and down the hall just yelling MRROWURRREEOWRRRUURRRURBLRGGUUURGHH.

Kismet just loves to talk. She has the softest little meow, but she just goes on and on with it. I love it! It's not loud and annoying, but she is a conversationalist. Even if it's just a conversation with herself.

lol, I just remembered, mine does this too. When I go to the bathroom for anything, he'll trot over and sort of wait outside. Usually I close the door since I live with someone. He has a time limit though when I'm allowed in the bathroom. If I don't come out after awhile, he'll start pawing and scratching the door and making MRRRRRRRR noises. "OMG ARE YOU DEAD IN THERE?!?!?! TALK TO ME!!!"

Hahaha, "dear god, he fell in! SOMEONE HELP! HEEEEEELLLLLPPPP! SAY SOMETHING HOOMAN!!" I hear Kismet's "muurrrrrr"s when I shut the door and she was a few seconds late to get in with me, but she gives up being noisy after that. Sometimes she'll just trot away meowing to herself again.

The friend I grew up with who owned cats never had a loud cat. They were all always silent - unless they were being picked up, because they hate it - except when the older one started going deaf (they presume) and howling (and of course, they'd yell at her, because that's totally conducive). I always assumed cats were super quiet, so I was so pleased to get chatty kitties.

My cats have changed so much since I was last on this site. I've had some medical problems and was spending most of my time on health websites. (those just make me paranoid though)

Anyway since I started feeling bad, Peanut has gotten more vocal to me. It's a change so I don't know what he wants half the time. I understand "feed me," "brush me" and "close the closet" but the rest is a mystery. Peanut HATES the closet with his food being open. He will sit by it and meow at anyone who passes until it's closed. :)

Angel has gotten very quiet and rarely meows anymore. She's very happy but very quiet.

I'm not sure how much I like chatty kitties.
I think it'd drive me crazy trying to figure out "OMG WHAT IS IT WHAT DO YOU WANT".

Mogli is a squeaker rather than a meower, but the longer he's with us, the more vocal he gets. Any cat seems quiet in comparison with Jamie, who had a real pair of lungs on him and "commented" on anything and everything.

6 cats only 1 real talker, Virgil. He will talk back and forth with me. Matthew when he wants his Dad's attention will jump on the window sill and scream bloody murder. But the rest only chatter at the birds or if they have fake mice in their mouth.

Out of the six, only one doesn't really talk much and that's Amber. BooBoo and Ms. Pepe awaken us pretty much every morning, wanting their breakfast. Mollipop will tell me when she wants a snack as does Muffin. Muffin and Molli also growl, hiss, and sputter at each other, when one dares to enter the other one's space.

But Tabby? Well, Tabby has a little black mousie called Blackie. She's constantly talking to Blackie. When she bats him around the house, she's chattering at him the whole time. And when she can't find him, she starts hollering for him and then we have to find Blackie for her. She carries Blackie around in her mouth, puts him down, swats him around, and then picks him up and starts it over again. She really likes to play with Blackie on the steps to the front door and she'll yell at him for a good hour or so....after a while, it can get annoying, esp when she decides to yell at midnight. We can find Blackie pretty much anywhere: on the kitchen table, in our bed, in the bathroom next to a litter box. Most of the time, he's on the steps waiting for her to find him.

(Tabby used to have a little pink mouse, called Pinkie. She had her for quite a while, but Pinkie got lost and we haven't found her now in months. When she disappeared and it was obvious she wasn't coming back any time soon, I took all the mousies out of their toy box and scattered them about on the floor. Tabby chose Blackie for her next victim and they've been best buddies now for a while. And that's a good thing because the last time I saw Pinkie, she was looking a tad disgusting....her pink fur was missing and she was pretty much naked and chewed. She was a much-loved mousie.)

Oliver meows whenever I'm in the kitchen. He wants some of whatever I'm preparing (raw chicken, surely, right?!). When my roommate comes out of his room and peers over the balcony, he'll meow at Oliver and, if my roommate is lucky, Oliver will meow back. Sometimes he'll randomly meow while he's playing, but that's rare. And every now and again, when I come home from a long day, he'll greet me at the door with a meow. Then he'll trot to the kitchen and look at his empty bowl, look at me, then look back to his empty bowl. "Meow". So cute.

Peanut used to do that too, but not to chase him. He was just too lazy to look for us so he'd yowl until I said "we're in here." Then he'd come trotting in and lay down. Lol
