If not, he surely gives a good imitation. And it is always in the same direction, at different times of the day/night when no one is stirring. (Only my husband & I are here anyway.) Usually at night, though. He doesn't  just stare in that particular same direction, he sometimes also crouches slightly, or sometimes just sticks his head forward, all the body language a cat uses when he sees something interesting. It sometimes lasts for several minutes. He sees something we cannot  see, and as I said, always in the same direction.  So it is not just spots before his eyes.  Hmm. and Wooo.

Sometimes I think my cat is seeing a ghost, and then I realize he's just going nuts over his shadow, lol.

But if ghosts exist, I'm pretty sure cats could see them! :D

We have little "critters" in our ceiling.. prob mice.  They can barely be heard, but Beeba will suddenly stare at the ceiling.  It isn't something he sees, rather he hears it.

So your cat probably hears something rather than sees something.

My cat loves to stare at blank spaces and his eyes wide open. He looks at blank space for a while then move on with his routie.

Its creepy when he stares at my back when nobody is even there. Giving me goose bumps. :D

Not sure where I stand on this, because sometimes Mo will stare into nothing and space out (whether that nothing ends up being on a wall or the face of a person)... but I space out and do that too.

Something kind of freaky that happened in our apartment, though, was we would always play with Mo on the same wall against our kitchen with the laser pointer. It was no surprise when he would stare at the wall waiting for it, but then one day the fire alarm in our building went off. As the safety-concerned tenants we are, we stayed inside and watched the firetrucks come. Apparently it was an actual small fire on the second floor, 8 floors below us. After that was all cleaned up, we noticed a weird smear on that wall that starts a couple inches from the floor, spreads wide, and tapers at the top about a foot from the ceiling. I joke it was ghosts because there's no way any smoke or smoke damage could have come up 8 floors in this one isolated space through concrete and walls, especially since we have a connected floor-based radiator on the opposite side of the room.

Hmm! That's really strange. Where did the smoke come from? Could it be that Mo knew it already?

I guess cats can also forsee or sence any future hapennings..

The weird thing is there was no smoke in our apartment at all, not even a scent, and the cats didn't react to the wall or vents specifically that day. The mark on the wall looks more like someone just drew on it with a thick, light medium, lol. I made a mistake though, since I just went out to look at it and it actually looks like a skinny mushroom cloud, tapered on the bottom and wide on top. Neither of our cats have done any creepy staring lately, but I'm sure they can hear or smell things we can't, so that may make it seem like they can "sense" the impending better.

If you believe in ghosts, I would say its possible. But I think cats are kind of spacy sometimes where they just like to zone out for long periods of time.... My opinion :)

Well whether cats can see things we cannot see, All I can say is I feel secure and safe with my cats around. Its like they are serving as my blanket in a cold windy night.

The only reason for my question if this is true is coming from my country (Philippines) that "ghost are afraid of cats". (Not sure if its true) So I wonder if cats can see them. Im just thinking everytime cats staring into blank spaces, probably they are telling them to go away and leave their owner alone. haha

We have an article about that here on TCS.

http://www.thecatsite.com/a/can-cats-see-ghosts
The disturbing thing about that article is that several people seem to take the concept of ghosts seriously.

Also, how are those ghost hunters still on TV? How many episodes can you get out of going into old prisons with night vision cameras and screaming, "Dude, did you SEE THAT?!?!"

I agree that the ghost hunters TV drama has been overplayed.  What's more, their trips usually seem to end in mostly failure.

But...out of the other side of my mouth...I have seen a ghost on more than one occasion.  I do not dabble in the occult, or dwell on it, but it has happened.  One ghost in particular I found out years later that 2 of my children had seen the same ghost (they described what he was wearing to a T); none of us had mentioned it thinking others would be skeptical and none of us had felt threatened. I found out from these children one at a time, when they had not had time to "compare notes" or anything. And I have seen my over the bridge heart kitty, and felt him jump and lay on the bed more than once. I'm sure there are others who have had experiences with "ghosts" and/or visits from kitties gone.

I relate all this because I feel that if I can see something, certainly my cat can; and spirits/ghosts/apparitions/whatever do not seem to reveal themselves to everyone present at the same time.

Well, the most the TV ghost hunters (or any ghost hunters) have obtained in terms of "proof" is EVP (electronic voice phenomena) recordings, which are kind of like the old scare stories they used to tell us in Catholic school...you know, the stories about how if you take a Black Sabbath or Metallica record, and play it backwards, you can hear Satan's voice telling you to eat Cheez Doodles, play Dungeons n' Dragons, and kill your parents. (Not necessarily in that order.)

Seriously, they showed us this movie in school:

The closest I came to ever believing in any sort of supernatural phenomena was when I was experiencing frequent bouts of sleep paralysis. If you've ever had it, you know it's freaky. I woke up one night in my apartment, with a demon fluttering around my room and landing on my chest, and a woman's voice called out my name. Except I realized I wasn't really awake. And then I woke up. And tried, desperately, to turn on the light switch, but it wouldn't work. And then I woke up again...until finally I really woke up.

And if I didn't have teh internetz, and I didn't google the experience, then I never would have known that the experience was sleep paralysis, and yes, it's freaky, but it happens because of a disconnect between the body and mind at the time of waking, and there's a perfectly good explanation for it. Interestingly, dozens upon dozens of cultures had myths about it, of course attributing it to the paranormal. I've learned that the brain has an uncanny ability to convince us that what we're seeing is real, even when it's not.
