In search of advice. We have a pregnant foster cat, a Bengal (if that matters) that has been very temperamental since we picked her up 10 days ago. She had been running loose for at least 6 weeks, and a kind lady had been feeding her outside in her barn. She captured her and brought her into rescue.
She comes up to us for attention, rubs against me and then turns a scratches me with NO warning. If there is a warning, it's her casing out my face for 2 seconds before making her move. When I didn't let her walk across my lap, she did her attack from behind last time. Other than when she strikes, she is very loving and kind. She is due in about 1 to 2 weeks according to the Vet that had to sedate her to examine her. There is NO picking her up, but that is not uncommon for a Bengal.
She is so loving, rubbing up against me and then turns mean for just a second and then goes back to rubbing against me....does this sound like a hormone thing? Am I missing something....We have been careful not to stare at her eyes, even though she is gorgeous, and I don't walk up to her, I make her come to me for attention. Her tails and ears give no early warning signs. I am feeding her canned food from a spoon to help her relate good things with me. I keep her pets short and sweet to avoid over stimulating her. (she has grabbed at my leg a couple times when I was leaving the room, I thought perhaps she didn't want me to go?). She enjoys playing with da bird, but seems to prefer rubbing up against me, but then she strikes after a while. Any advice of welcomed. I am not new to cats, at all, this one just baffles me!
Thanks for any advice in dealing with a Pregnant cat with attitude!
