Hi everybody,

Here's my adopted cat. Surely she's not pure breed but I want to understand to which breed she's closest to.

Another question is how to correctly name the color of her fur?

Weird thing is how that cat changed the color few months ago. See her earlier photos below.

That's a same cat while growing up. At first color was lighter and there was this hint of orange or brown. But now it got darker with no sign of orange/brown.

So could you help me figuring out what color and breed is this closest to?

She is a gorgeous Blue Tortie!   ( or sometimes called a "Blue-Cream")  .  This is the dilute version of the black & orange torties.   Amazing eyes!

The color is not really associated with any specific breed;  it is seen in many breeds as well as the far more numerous random-bred cats of no particular breed.

I agree that she is a blue tortie. But do you think she might be a smoke as well Maewkaew ?
She looks so dark on that first photo.

Another thing about her fur is that it's white underneath. It's dark grey on outside but closer to skin it's almost pure white.

Googling blue tortie finds gray cats with orange/brown spots, but my cat doesn't have any spots. Her fur had some orange/brown tips when she was kitten but not the spots. And right now she's all grey and this color it's barely visible. There's no spots of different color like on those photos.

Smoke looks more like it but how to explain that brown color?

If her fur is white underneath that proves she is either a smoke or a shaded. She is a tortie because you can see some red on her in the kitten photos, she just doesn't show much red colour as an adult as some torties that's all. A friend of mine had a silver tortie maine coon but she looked compeley just silver. All she had was about 4 red hairs on one toe and most the time you could not find them. But she had to be a tortie because her dad was a red.
So I think your cat would be classed as blue tortie smoke but she looks like a blue smoke because she hasn't got much red on her. If you understand that lol. :D

Sounds convincing.

My cat is adopted and I don't know anything about her parents but I've never seen fur of that color so I was curious about it.

Thanks for help!

If she is a blue tortie smoke,  she'd have a white undercoat and the other hairs would be white at the roots.  I actually wondered a bit about that   and your description sounds like she probably is.

Not sure about having more of the brownish color as a kitten,  but smokes are notorious for going through some wild coat changes from kitten to adult.
