Hello everyone, I have 4 cats already and tomorrow my new kitten moves in, I'm just looking for some advise really on how to introduce them, how to keep the kitten indoors while the others can go in and out freely, being that it is summer i really dont want to keep the older 4 cooped up indoors as they spend a lot of time basking/playing in the sun/shade, we've already decided to keep the new kitten in the lounge during the day and our bedroom at night just so we can keep an eye on her but i dont think a board up at the door will stop her from leaving the lounge as she is a little escape artist already. we will be getting her first load of jabs on monday and then the booster 4 weeks later. any ideas?

also she is our first female kitten we were going to let her have a litter but I've decided against that as i think i want her to have a litter because kittens are cute but i realise thats me being selfish so what age can i get her spayed? and before anyone asks all my boys are neutered.

Thank you for deciding to get her spayed. She can be spayed as early as 3 months. Some vets have requirements of so many months or so many pounds. Be sure to ask your vet on Monday.

Until she is spayed, do what you have to do to keep her inside. It only takes a minute of her being out to be bred by a stray intact male.

Maybe a child gate, with very small holes, would help keep her in the lounge. A temporary netting screen door (just fitted in, but not fastened) would be another option. If she goes into heat, it would be better for her to be in a crate than risk her getting outside.

I hope we are going to see some pictures of the new kitten.  Please?
