Nikki went through FLUTD about 3 weeks ago, and he's completely recovered because we switched his diet to wet food from dry food only.

I used to use wet food as a treat for him, but now that it's his regular meal, he's crazy about eating because it makes him SO happy!

Of course I ration his 5.5oz can throughout the day (4 meals a day including a 11pm final ration), but he still wakes me up at 4am in the morning because he can't wait to eat again!

What do I do?

I've tried ignoring him but he's a siamese, and meows endlessly for hours! (I have no idea how he has it in himself to meow for over an hour)

What's worse is that his meowing is waking up my roomates! Their rooms are right next to mine and Nikki meows at my door VERY loudly

Any suggestions?

How many pounds is your kitty and how old is he? 5.5 ounces is not enough for some cats depending on these factors.

A lot of people here think dry is the devil, but if you are unwilling/unable to try feeding him slightly more wet, perhaps leave a teeny bit of dry out overnight and see if it helps?

He's 14 pounds! I've been adding soo much water to his food lately to make sure his urinary crystals are gone so he's around 16 pounds now. Oh yes! I forgot to mention that I do leave out a cup of dry for him to graze on through the day, tho he mainly eats it through the night. I'm worried about giving him too much dry tho, because that's what caused his FLUTD
, so I try to do a little under 3/4 a cup.

Well... 5.5 ounces is definitely not enough at his weight if you were only feeding wet but since you are also feeding dry (and really that is quite a bit of dry) I think it should be enough.  It's rough because usually I'd tell you just ignore him and invest in earplugs, eventually he'll give up and get on your schedule, but if he is disturbing others as well that is not a viable option :(  Hopefully others can chime in.

Yeah
I hate having to keep my door closed on him. He doesn't like being left alone. Nikki always sleeps with me but lately it's just been too out of control... I might have to put him in the basement (it's huge and it's where all his food, bed, biggest litter box, hiding spots, etc. are) and close the door on him at night
thanks for the feedback anyway tulosai!

I think he now expecting to eat every four or five hours so he doesnt realize that it is night time .. all he knows is its his feeding time.  Try half can in the morning and half can right before you go to bed. Maybe if you draw out the time before feeding and feed him more at those times he might be held over through the night.
