Are you a fast or slow reader? How long does it take for you to read a medium size hard back book ?

Me, about 1 week if I keep at it and stay off Facebook lol

I read about 1000 words per minute.  How fast I finish a book depends on what I have going on. If I'm doing nothing but reading in my spare time instead of watching TV, I can typically read a 1,000 page book in maybe 4 or 5 days.  If the books are between 400 and 500 pages, I can read 3 in a week.

I read the entire "Fire and Ice" series by George R.R. Martin, between Sept 11/12 and Nov 28/12. A total of 5,705 pages, and I was trying to take my time.

Recently read "A Wrinkle In Time", at Husband's request.  Never read it in high school.  He thought I would connect or see a similarity between myself and the main female character (which I really didn't)...It really isn't my kind of science fiction.  I prefer Anne McCaffery's "Dragonrider of Pern" series.

I usually don't buy books brand new; will scour secondhand stores and garage sales.  Last summer, I picked up a hardcover copy of Ronald Reagan's autobiography for $1.  Am still trying to finish it; the first half was good, but the White House years are kinda losing me.  But I'm determined to get through it.

Love Anne McCaffrey and have collected most of her work (not just Pern), and Todd's too.

Still reading Moving On (:Larry McMurtry), as it was my "light" reading in between The Maze Runner series by James Dashner. Have finished the series.

Almost done with it though (Moving On) and am resisting the urge to pick up Clan of the Cave Bear (Jean Auel). I read that series so often I am afraid I will spoil it for myself, so I have to struggle to stay away from it for at least 2 years at a time.

Don't have anything new lined up. Phooey.

Maybe I'll just go with Terms of Endearment and spend some time at the library next week.

Finished World Without End.  Haven't started anything else, and probably won't until tomorrow; I have to recharge my eReader.  I have John Grisham's collection. I've never read any of his books, but have seen a couple of movies based on his books, so I think I'll start reading those next.

I've enjoyed the Pern series.....I think Anne McCaffrey passed away and her son is now writing the books? (My son got me interested in them years and years ago and I think I've read them all now.) I read A Wrinkle in Time when I was a child......I liked it.

I like John Grisham and have read several of his books.....a good writer.

On my Nook:

Against the Wind - Kat Martin

City of Screams - James Rollins and Rececca Cantrell

The Twelve - Justin Cronin (I've had this on my Hold list forever; finally got it this morning)

You Don't Want to Know - Lisa Jackson (She is an excellent writer, BTW.....I'd recommend her)

As for reading speeds, I don't know. I keep track of my books, though, and can tell you that in January, I read 27 books. That's almost one book a day. When the book is very good, it catches me.....I get so caught up in the plot that I just go and go and won't stop until the book is finished. One day, I was reading and Rick was watching me. He said that my eyes don't go back and forth across the page; they pretty much go straight down the page and he seemed surprised by that....I don't know what that means, but I know that I can read fast.

I have alot of Stephen King books. So I think I'm going read one called ''CELL'' again now. I really like his books and will probably be collecting them till I die or Stephen stops writing.

I have told my grandson that after I die he can have them or he can sell them to the used book store. But I do want to be buried with the book Misery. lol

Last night I started a Robin Cook book: Nano. It's a about stem cell research taken to the extreme. Like Patricia Cornwell and Kathy Reiches, he tends to go into too much scientific detail and I'm getting lost at times.  But I love science, so I skip over the technical jargon because to me it isn't vital to the plot.  I'm about 1/2 way through.

The library came through with The Harbinger by Jonathon Cahn. I've had this on Hold for forever, so I was glad to get it this morning. About halfway through it and it's interesting, although I'm not much into God-prophesies.

I lied. The book I'm reading is called "Death Benefit", not "Nano". I had started Nano and realized that I hadn't read the previous book. Not that it matters, Robin Cook books aren't serial in nature.

I joined Goodreads which, is an online reading community where you can create your own profile and share books and reviews with other people online.  I set a my "2013 Reading Challenge" goal at 12 books.  I am trying to read more and it doesn't seem like a lot, but I am quite a slow reader so I don't even know if I'll be able to do it.  So far I have finished 2 books, American Gods by Neil Gaiman, which was a really interesting book, and The Road by Cormac McCarthy.  The Road was really depressing and though the book was well written, I don't think I really enjoyed it.  I am currently reading 1984 by George Orwell.

But Todd doesn't write about Anne's created Pern characters (though occasionally you do see some brief appearances of familiar faces) His first attempts, both alone and collaborated with his mother focused on the Watchwhers, using completely new people. His very first Pern novel, the one he wrote alone, I found spellbinding. The others of that series, with Anne are good, but not as good as the first one. The later Todd and Anne/Todd Pern books are all a bit..out there, very confusing with a lot of time jumping, until you've read them a few times, some people (based on reader reviews I have read) have made some objections about some of the content (accusing Todd of promoting child abuse)

Started on a Vince Flynn novel a few days ago:  Act of Treason.  I've read it before several  years ago, but started reading it again by accident and found that I don't recall very much of it, so decided to just keep reading.

I'm reading "The Everything New Nurse Book, 2nd Edition" and "Chicken Soup for the Nurse's Soul." I'm trying to slow myself down with reading. I have a tendency to devour books in a matter of hours at most.

Chronicles of Narnia, the entirety, took me just 4 days. Haven't encountered a book that thick (and interesting) since then.

Started American Sniper a couple days ago. It's not bad.

I just finished this book yesterday. It isn't a very long book, but I took longer than usual to read it.  It was emotionally gut wrenching, and I had to keep putting it down.  But every word was worth reading.

I'm now reading "City of Bones". I can't remember who the author is.

Am almost finished with Guilty Wives by James Patterson.  A very different book from him and it's great.  I've read over 60 of his books at last count.  Great author.

My friend, Dale (RIP) brought that to me when I was in the hospital after having surgery.  My doctor saw the cover, asked what I was reading, looked at the page I was on and just shook his head and rolled his eyes.
