It's taken me a month to get around to posting this.  Saying goodbye to such a good longtime friend has been difficult.

Felixia came into my life as a tiny stray cat back in 1991, abandoned by neighbors who moved away and left her behind.  I thought she was a kitten because she was so small, only 6 pounds soaking wet.  But when I took her to the vet to get her spayed, they told me she was already spayed and needed a dental instead because her teeth were bad.  They took out 5 rotted teeth, poor kitty!  The vet was unable to guess her age, but we assumed she was at least 3 or 4 because of the condition of her teeth.

She quickly took her rightful place snuggling on my chest every night.  She was amazingly agile and loved to turn backflips in the air and somersaults along the back of the couch, earning her the nickname "Mary Lou Retton kitty".  She remained agile well into old age.  Here's a video of her at 20:

She was queen of the house, quickly putting any new cats in their place, even though she was much smaller.  She was amazingly affectionate, too, always ready with a bump, a purr, and eager to settle into a lap.  When my daughter was born, she took right to her, following her around eager for some love from the new little person.

She was still active for her age when she injured her hip, most likely falling from the cat tree she so loved to perch high up on, and she rapidly deteriorated over the course of the next day, leading me to make the painful decision to have her euthanized. :(

Goodbye, little one.  You gave me many years of unconditional love, laughter, solace, entertainment, and peaceful purrs.

May you once again enjoy turning backflips and somersaults, chasing mice and rolling in catnip over the Rainbow Bridge.  We will miss you.

I'm really sorry to hear about Felixia's passing. It must feel like the end of an era - she was with you for a whole generation. RIP, little girl, you were loved so much and will really be missed, also by your TCS friends.

It is obvious how much you loved :rbheart: Felixia and rightly so. She sounded like an incredible kitty all the way around. I am so sorry for your great loss. :hugs: No matter how old they are, it tears our hearts out to say goodbye. :shame:

RIP dear, sweet :rbheart: Felixia :rbheart:

I'm so sorry for your loss of Felixia

I have to say that video of her made me giggle because what a little live wire she is!!!
  She's certainly going to keep them on their toes over at the Bridge!

Susan, she was a live wire!  She held her tail up like a flag, the way kittens do, up until about age 20.  Amazing.

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts, everyone :)

I do love those tuxedo kitties.  It is hard to watch that video and think she was twenty years old.  My goodness, what a blessed cat she was.  And what a blessing for you to have her that many years.  Hugs.  I am sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry I'm just now seeing this. The video brought a smile to my face, you would never guess her to be 20 years old in that! I cannot imagine the void she's left in your household & heart after being with you for so many years. :hugs;

Play happily over the Rainbow Bridge, Felixia :angel:
