Okay. how much at a time? and how often?
Unfortunatly we could only give it to them once a day. Only because it is the shelter life and we had at least 70 other cats to attend to every day for 8 hours. She nursed them well though and the KMR was just to help her out. She had 6 kittens if I remember correctly.

We always added warm water. I actually think that is what you are supposed to do according to the can right? Ours was in powder form LOL

this one is in liquid form. I'm going to give it to her once a day, at night, as is. i gave her a full bottle which is 3.5 table spoons. she had it all gone in a matter of a minute.

question, i thought i was going to need some KMR, filled a bottle and none of it got used...i dont want it to go to waste and it was $10 for a 10 oz bottle. can i give this milk to chloe??

Chloe the mom?  Oh yes. you can.  :)

In fact, some do use KMR milk as extra nourishment for moms, esp if they do have big litters.

She lactacing and having 6 babies will need good food, also rich in calcium.

She should be eating kitten food as well, until the kittens either stop suckling or go to their new homes.

Okay. I gotta cut the amount in half. she had BAD runs last night, poor thing (and my poor nose!). she got it all over the nest bedding and i hadda change it. i gave all the kittens a look and they were clean. she was a mess though. i will have my fiance help me give her a bath when he gets home.

If the KMR gives her the runs cut it out completely.  It obviously doesn't suit her, and the last thing she needs is digestive upset.

Mommy and all 6 kitties are doing great. They all have gained at least 2 ounces. the orange kitty has both eyes opened and he now weighs the most. we aren't keeping him, but we've nicknamed him buddah, cuz he has a big ole belly.. We are naming the torti-tabby mix Pandora. The kittens were born on Charlie's sister's birthday and that's her nickname. She really enjoys being held and having her head petted.
the 2 white kitties are always squabbling with just eachother and so are the 2 black ones. the orange and torti are the most calm..as far as the runs goes, Momma is fine. I mix the half the amount i gave her before with food, so it lasts a little longer. she hasn't had anymore issues, if anything, its given her a bit more energy. she has gotten herself really clean. We are going to give her a dawn dish soap bath still tho in a few days.

There really should be no need to bath her, and the kittens find their way to her nipples using scent and to me that's a reason not to bath her.

I've never known a queen smell several days after delivery - or indeed at any other time.  Personally, if she were mine, I'd take her and the kits to the vets for a quick check.

Mine also has a crusty tail from all the various liquids. She was so fastidious before delivery, but now she's more focused on cleaning the kittens. At least they are all soft and fluffy! I am going to try using some of those cat wet wipes on her tail-- but I will avoid her nipples and stomach. That tail is just going to get harder and harder if I don't clean it, I think.

i think i am going to give her a bath with dawn. it the only thing my vet recommends other than baby shampoo because she has sensitive skin. and its not her stuff that stinks, its her fur. she has gotten herself clean, but i can still see residual blood cuz she is all white. i think im also gonna wash her bedding. it smells pretty bad.

Agree, I wouldn't be bothering if it upsets her tummy.

Neither have I, usually within a few hours the girls have cleaned themselves up. There shouldn't be any odour.

Bedding should be changed twice a day to begin with.

Of course, if the bed is not changed and smelly, the smell will go on her too. And perhaps even discolour her fur.

As the others said: bad smell is often/usually a strong sign something is not good;  ie infected wounds and that like.

So unless there isnt no very good explanations for smells etc - contact vet asap. at once.

Good luck!   *vibes*
