This is al ong post and basically I am wondering if a dominant kitten may be causing litter box urination cyclical avoidance.

I have two kittens where one is quiet and timid, but not scared. She is six months old and weighs 7 pounds. I have another one who is 8 months old and I think he weighs at least 10 pounds. Thed do play, eat and sleep together, but he does also chase her aound much more than she chases him around. He appears to be loving and lets her eat, use the litter box and sleep on the bed.

However, he does not give her 100% freedom. He will et her eat, but at the same time, will push his way in if he is still humgry and grab her food. She will push back, but she is very gentle about it.

He chases her around and pounces on her plus bites her. She rarely meows or complains. She chases him back, but instead of pouncing on him, she runs up and jumps on him, hits him with her paws and very lightly bites him. Maybe it is because she is not heavy enough to nock him around.

He tends to chase her off the bed, she continues to jump on the bed. She does not actually stay very long, but will jump on periodically through the night. She also jumps on when hungry.

At first, she appears t5o poop in one box and pee in another one. She will do this for a while, and often cycles to not peeing in a box. Then will return to using a box to pee in and cycles to not using.

I just assumed this was due to a dirty box. She uses the box until something is wrong with it and stops using it. Even when I clean it, she may complete the day or tow cycle of not peeing in a box.

Then maybe she decides to test the box again.

Now afteer all this, I am wondering if the dominant cat is involved somehow. He does not seem to beother her, burt frequently watches her use the box, lays beside her outside of the box and sometimes chases her when she comes out of the box. heloves to use her box when she I thin preferrs to pee in one and poop in one.

I think she would preferr he would do the same.

If anyone has reached this point, I would be interested in your thoughts. She has had been to the vet iwth tests for UTI.

Your two cats have a normal relationship.
They love to play with each other even if one is busy in the litter box.

I suggest you add another box (one for each cat).

A few suggestions:

1. Feed them in separate rooms or put her in one room and close the door so she can eat in peace.

2. Put a litter pan in two different places or on two different floors - again, so he can't bother her when she's using it.

Otherwise they are acting normal. I'm assuming both are neutered/spayed by now. If not, separate them and get both done quickly (her first).
