Lawsy Mercie I'm overwhelmed with what food to go to, I go to the pet shop and there are hundreds of different kinds and I just don't know what to choose. Here's my problem.

I need a food that is gentle enough for a sensitive stomach and has a bit of fibre to help that (Colitis in Charlie) , but it also needs to help Murphys furballs. (On a side note Murphy has a bit of a rattly chest/cough/vomit at the moment and is on antibiotics and anti sick meds for I guess is a cold)

The vet suggest I get a sensitive tummy food and I asked him what he recommended and he said they stock science diet that has a specific sensitive/hairball/fibre all on one food, but there are other brands out there. I don't really want to go back to science diet as its what Murphy and Winston were on when they came from the kitten rescue and it made their poo STINK.

So mah lil kitty cat gurus .. brand/type of food recommendations? I feel like I'm going cross eyed with research at the moment! (They are on Purina Naturals atm)

We have a Petsmart here (They have a massive selection, two long isles of food!) and a petco .. they have a smaller selection.

Other than that there's Target and Walmart, but they stock things like whiskers .. nothing really geared towards a specific dietary need iykwim?

I use Nutro Natural Choice Indoor for Chester. I have recommended it to many that had sensitive stomach issues and they have had good results. I know it is at Petsmart and Petco, you will find it to be cheaper at Petsmart usually. Depending on the age of your kids you could go with Adult or Senior if they are over 7 years old. Chester more specifically gets the Weight Management because he needs it.

What ever food you go with just be sure to mix it when changing from your old food to new food for about a week so not to have any stomach upset.

I hope you find what works best for your kids.

Also sending healing vibes your way for Murphy.

My suggestion is look at hairball foods ( they typically have more fiber) with NO wheat, corn or soy

How old is you kitty? if under 8 look at Blu wilderness

They are all 3. Will hairball food be gentle enough for Charlies belly?

many higher end hairball foods are fairly gentle as the extra fiber comes from veggies or oats

Thank you all so much for your help.

So I wrote down factors you told me and I went and trawled the food isle in pet smart for 40 minutes reading labels .. no wheat, corn or soy, hairball remedy and I decided on one called Blue Buffalo .. it contains none of the above and they had a hairball formula. Its a bit more pricey, but I think in the long run is a good choice if it helps stop the vet bills!!

I put a few bits on top of their current kibble and they gobbled it up, so I think they are going to like it
Now starts the job of slowly changing foods.
