I'm a recent convert to Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat litter. It was praised so much on this board, I finally decided to try it. I'm amazed! It has virtually no dust - no more than the Yesterday's News I had been using - and very good odor control. I think the lack of dust contributes to that by not carrying the odor into the air & all over the room. And, absolutely no scent, which is great for me because I'm very sensitive to perfumes. I love it!

Thanks for your replay GoldyCat!

My other question remains however, does the pine clumping have those silicates in them? I thought it was just the clay that was bad for the lungs but if it's these silicates....

We've been using the multiple cat formula of WBCL for years - basically since the furbabes were kittens. We wouldn't switch unless we absolutely had to.

I use Swheat Scoop simply because I live in an Apt with no balcony and I was not walking all the way around to the dumpster to throw litter out every time I scooped so I love that it's flushable. It clumps pretty well too, and it does wonders for the smell. That plus the arm and hammer powder and the booda dome makes having a litter box in my dining room possible!

I know this thread is hella old & who knows if anyone will ever see my reply. Reading the posts, what's crazy to me is more than one person describing a certain litter & having different descriptions. This is totally conflicting to me.

From what people have posted I really wanted to try Dr Elsey's Precious Cat. I did & I can't wait until it's gone. It is SO dusty it fills my whole room up. What's even funnier is the disclaimer on the packaging that states that because it's silica gel, it is safe to ingest or inhale. Yeah right. If I can smell it, filling up my whole room, I just don't see how that is safe for me or my pet when they're sticking their nose down super close to it.

I also grabbed some Swheat Scoop. Now here is a good litter. No dust, hardly any smell & it clumps awesome. This is very comparable to the Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Clumping which is WAY cheaper.

World's Best - too dusty. It has covered the whole top of the box (actually a dog house) in a very fine coating of dust. I don't want to breathe that & I surely don't want my kitties breathing it also.
