that one's not a true fountain, just an automatic waterer. mine have one like that, that i used to use if i was going to be gone several days, & they liked it ok, but not as well as the fountains.
the stainless petmate has a stainless ramp, but the bowl part is still plastic.

I have the Drinkwell fountain and it plugs in outlet. If getting to an outlet is a problem, could you use an extension cord and throw a rug or piece of carpet over the cord. I have done this before to hide the cord and prevent tripping.

Riley has the Freshflow one and it is very quiet. Maybe yours was faulty? It IS a pain to clean though, so my next one will be a Drinkwell.

Today I returned the noisy medium sized Fresh Flow and then went to another pet store and bought the large one. Thankfull no loud noise and the kitties all lined up to drink and play with it. I have the cleaning kit from Drinkwell so cleaning the nooks and crannies on any of the fountains or their motors is not difficult. I washed it before putting it out and it was very simple.
