Cats in tune to hormones?

I know cats can pick up on hormone changes when women are pregnant. So does this mean that my cats are picking up on me, even though I'm not pregnant?

My hormones have always been all over the place, and have gotten worse since I had a 15 lb ovarium cyst removed. The sudden changes had calmed down in these past years, but I think they've come back.

I think Captain Spectacular might be picking up on this, but he is effectively driving me insane. Everywhere I go he's behind me, doing this weird little "rolling" meow. (You know, a mrrrrrow.) At first I thought he wanted food, or maybe he was trying to tell me that he couldn't wait to the afternoon to have the littler changed. No dice. I try distracting him with some toys, and it doesn't work.

He just follows me everywhere doing this. He's even started doing this when I'm trying to sleep. While it was cute at first, I've since evicted him from my room while I sleep. (And since my sleep schedule is crazy, I usually am asleep during the day.) This does me no good because then he'll sit outside my door and still do it.

Someone help me. Am I doomed to ride out my hormone swings and a crazy cat? Ziltoid couldn't care less it seems, as he doesn't even let me pick him up anymore. Hmph, he hits 4 months old and suddenly thinks he's too good to get cuddled.

Its possible. I think animals can sense a lot more than we can.

It also possible that he wants extra attention. You have a young kitten and he may want to make sure he comes first.

And yes 4 month olds are like that. Once they get a little independence they act like they no longer need you

My Bob was like that. He is now a little over a year and even though he is "his own man" he still needs me to cuddle him every night and every morning.

They're both the same age, brothers from the same litter. Capt. has always been the cuddly one of the two, and he's usually curled up on my shoulder or lap. This whole following me around and trying to chat up a storm is new to me.

Ahhh well that even makes more sense. His brother is becoming independent and he is looking for the affection he used to get from his brother is now pointing at you.

Not unusual for the age. They are forming their personailites. As they get older I am sure he will get more independent.

My Bob used to be very clingy. He drove me nuts. I could not even crochet because he wanted to sit on my lap which of course resulted in him grabbing the yarn every two seconds.

His sister Penelope on the other hand was distant and she wanted to be near but not on top of me. She was happy laying a few feet away.

Now Bob is independent and outgoing. He likes being cuddled but under his terms

Penelope is a little more clingy but still likes to show her love from a distance.
