You could try Hill's a/d. It is a critical care food, but highly palatable. My cats would commit crimes to get a bite. It is also high in calories, so a small portion will be fine. It is Rx, but I think most vets would sell a can if you are an established client. I would consider trading spots...
Yes, not saying they are no biggy, but for a long-term solution I would do trap training and continuous trap feeding, because a single dematting is not going to permanently take care of the problem. A feral cat that is used to eating in the trap for months and years is more likely not to become...
This is a long term solution for feral cat maintenance: Invest in a good trap, one with a guillotine door at the bait end. Rig it up so it doesn't spring. (depending on the mechanism you'll need a tie or a stick). Start feeding in front of the trap. Move the food gradually to the back. It might...
Interesting that this post was on top of my page today. I just made a public post on local facebook groups:
"As a cat rescuer I get calls of all sorts involving cats. But the last two missions stand out as different. Two times in a row I was called to rescue the pets of a person who had passed...
Set up a game camera (hide it in the bushes facing your trap or feeding station to get more information. In my experience (several years of TNR) there are always more cats than you expect. A game camera will show you what is going on when no one is watching.
Hey, where is everyone that wanted to help? "Lots of Spots" got the kit and is working on it, but I need one or two more scent samples. Puleeeaaase? Anybody?
ameezers, if you send me your address in a private message, I will mail you the scent collection kit and instructions. I am going to send one out to a forum member today, but it would be really good to have a couple more, so the dog can learn, that we want her to find any baby kitten.
The scent...
Thank you! The first post in is the UK, probably will take too long to ship, especially before Christmas. I contacted the other person though!
Cat just given birth won't stop meowing
60 Days Pregnant....i Think
As the leader of a TNR program (Trap-Neuter-Return of feral cats) I am reaching out to breeders with an unusual request.
For a pilot project supported by Maddie's Fund I need to find neonatal kittens. Ideally NOW.
Let me explain: My TNR team won Maddie's Fund Innovation grant for the idea to...
Another thing that came to my mind: You dont want to feed any more. Bummer. But you like cats, and you have a skill that not many people have: You know how to trap. You might want to look into being a TNR trapper instead? Check out your town about the need for TNR. Maybe you can connect with...
I would also advise not to leave any food out after feeding time. Cats get used to feeding times so quickly, and unless you are in a big hurry, you can watch them eating, check their well being and who is there and who is not, and after everyone is fed, you take the bowls and leftover. This way...
I would like to get in touch with people who have a cat that needs a wheelchair to get around. My two foster kittens were born with swimmer's syndrome, and one of them has nerve damage and according to three different vets will never walk with his hind legs. After building two different...
