    Name Three Things - 2024

This morning, I felt like I was slammed into a brick wall. So tired and nauseous, I went back to bed for about an hour. Got back up and felt better. This is what happens. I go for days, just doing my normal stuff and then....boom! Dead-tired and sick with dry heaves. Then I start to feel better...

    Name Three Things - 2024

We had a bit of frost last night, nothing like what was forecast. Rick finally called the sewer-weenies to come in and pump out our septic tanks; they're coming on Friday. Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, made Rick's coffee, and went back to bed until 8:00. We went to Aldi's...

Question of the Day - Monday, April 22, 2024

Nothing. I don't watch it, nor do I play it.

@Kwik, I hope you're feeling better. :hugs: Not much on our agenda today; Rick is down with a bad headache. I'll scoop boxes, but that might be it for the day. Straightening-up in the kitchen. I looked through the renal diet cookbooks. :cringe: Bleah

Question of the Day, Saturday, April 20

We went to Trader Joe's today. I only bought a few things: Olive oil, 10 pounds of unsalted butter ($3.99 pound and it's good butter), lower sodium soy sauce, balsamic vinegar. I love TJ's balsamic vinegar. What's your favorite grocery store? Where do you shop for groceries most often? Our...

I like bananas, but am no longer allowed to eat them due to potassium levels.

    What's For Dinner? - 2024

Yesterday, since I had already had blood work, we had pork and sauerkraut for dinner. Sauerkraut is a no-no, but I wanted to get it used up. I rinsed it well. Tonight, we're doing grilled chicken breasts over salad. I went up to the garden and there was one thin asparagus spear. I'm adding that...

    Name Three Things - 2024

I was pretty much a couch potato yesterday, so tired that I had no energy for anything. Feel better today, so while Rick is out working in the garden, I'm going to work in the house. Talked to my nephrologist about the results of the kidney biopsy. They were better than he expected. That was...

Question of the Day - Monday, April 15, 2024

I used to love the smell of lilacs. We used to have two lilac bushes at the west end of the house and, when they bloomed, I would open the windows and the smell would permeate through the house. I could even be in the kitchen and smell the lilacs. I love them.

Question of the Day, Sunday April, 14th

@nurseangel You might want to check on a book about canning by Ball. I have one and it's really good. It goes through the basics of canning and it also has some recipes. That's where I got the Red Onions with Honey recipe, which was excellent...

Question of the Day, Sunday April, 14th

I have a few really good pickle recipes, if you're interested. These are the old-fashioned pickle recipes that my grandmother and Mom used. As @MoochNNoodles said, the bread and butter pickles are really good. I also have a recipe for lime pickles. @lizzie has a great recipe for cinnamon...

    What's For Dinner? - 2024

That chicken on Tuesday? Oh man, it was so good! We really didn't miss the salt. I threw it into the NFG. 370 degrees, til the thermometer hit 155 in the breast. Left it covered with foil until it hit 165 and it was perfect. Even Rick said it was really good...for chicken. I'm making a chicken...

Question of the Day - Monday, April 8th, 2024

I know the constellations. When our son was younger, we got him a telescope one year for Christmas. That boy inhaled everything he could about the solar system. I'd come home from work at 11:00 at night, and he'd be out on the deck by the pool. "Mom! Mom, hurry up and change your clothes...

@artiemom I feel so badly for Shamus. It's too bad G would not allow you to take him. I know you're a cat person and don't know much about dogs, but a simple kind heart would do wonders...and you have that. I hope things work out well for that poor pup. @Kwik When I had a meniscus tear in my...

    What's For Dinner? - 2024

I have a recipe for an excellent rotisserie-style roast chicken. But it calls for 4 teaspoons of salt. Well, I completely cut the salt out, but used the other ingredients. Spatch-cocked the chicken, sprayed with avocado spray, seasoned well, and tossed it back into the fridge. I'm going to...
