Cleaning litter box and cleaning accidents

We have two cats and for various reasons I need to have “my” cat’s litter box in my bedroom so it’s important to me to minimize odor. I usually scoop it out at least twice a day sometimes more if he or our other cat in the house does a bm. What is your advice on products to clean it? Also there...

Ideas for keeping cat out of the sink!

Have never tried walking him and he’s not much for toys but will consider it. Thanks!

Ideas for keeping cat out of the sink!

I will definitely take a look at the recommendations for feeding and schedule. The cans are 5.5 ounces. He’s not heavy but he’s solid so I feel as if he’s eating enough. As for meds - oh yes, he gets gabapentin the night before a vet appt and then again along with a trazodone the morning of the...

Ideas for keeping cat out of the sink!

He is 13. He was fostered from birth with his litter and adopted by us at 12 weeks so never feral. He gets 1/4 can wet and 1/4 cup dry in am and then 1/4 can and a little dry in pm. Plus treats. He has always been an eater. Other cat (originally a feral female) is just as bad but a bit more...

Ideas for keeping cat out of the sink!

The motion activated toy might work - although he’s a pretty fierce cat until he gets to the vet when his fear generates intense aggression. Anyway - it’s worth a try! And yes he DOES like water. Also tries to go in my bathroom sink to lick whatever water has puddled there before it drains out...

Ideas for keeping cat out of the sink!

Jeter lives to eat and constantly jumps up on the counter and into the kitchen sink to scavenge whatever he can. I have never been successful in training him to stay off counters - foil, double-stick tape, etc. - nothing deterred him. He knows it’s “wrong” because if I approach him when he’s...

Cat chases other out of litter box

Thanks. They’ve been living in the same space for about 5 or 6 months now. At the beginning she stalked and cornered him but they peacefully coexist the majority of the time now even though they are not cuddle buddies. He’s neutered and she’s spayed. We are fostering a dog which we need to keep...

Cat chases other out of litter box

Two cats three boxes - one in my room, one in hallway, and one in spare room and they have both been using all interchangeably although my 13 year old male usually uses the one in my room and the younger female usually uses the one in the hallway. Lately, however, every time the 13 year old male...

    Can this be his teeth??

Thanks - Last year when I brought him to the vet the first time - we had just moved - they wouldn’t treat him because he was very aggressive and they wouldn’t even try to get him out - so they gave me both gabapentin and trazodone. I gave him those prior to the next visit and he was STILL...

    Can this be his teeth??

First of all, I want to emphasize that I’m not trying to substitute proper vet care by asking questions here. Sadly my 13 year old neutered male is a disaster at the vet. Even pre-medicated he’s so aggressive that staff have refused to get him out of the carrier and I’ve been turned away and I...

    Cat tries to go out

Jeter is a 13 year old indoor cat - has been indoor only since adopted at 12 weeks. Recently he’s making more attempts to get outside and goes out our front door onto our front porch and plops down under a bench or onto our side patio from the side door. So far he hasn’t wandered further but I...

Vets refuse to treat cat - at my wit’s end

Thanks. That is a very empathetic and helpful response. I myself would prefer “going” sooner rather than lingering and I guess should do the same for him. Still beating the bushes for a vet who’s more willing to treat him while he’s relatively healthy until the time that he’s ill comes around.

Vets refuse to treat cat - at my wit’s end

I thanked that vet profusely for her reluctant willingness to go ahead and sedate then anesthetize him but I know she wasn’t happy. I lived in CT before moving here last year. He was seen regularly at the vet and was handled without medicating and without sedation - just two strong people using...

Vets refuse to treat cat - at my wit’s end

My 13 year old Jeter is beyond impossible at the vet - even with pre-visit meds he snarls and hisses and slams into the carrier as soon as we get into the exam room and his records clearly describe him as aggressive and as actively lunging at staff. A month ago a vet VERY reluctantly sedated him...

What is the best barrier to use for separation?

My 13 year old male cat has limited tolerance for other animals and he’s very territorial and defensive. We have a blended household with three other cats, one golden retriever, and have a continuing parade of foster dogs usually one at a time. The golden and he are fine and he’s grudgingly...
