    3 cats gagging

UPDATE #2: Marky Mark has fully recovered as of Saturday. He's currently giving the foster kittens a run for their money! Poor Donnie has been throwing up big bellyfuls of phlegm about once/day. Murphy has red eyes that are kinda goopy, and both have had some labored breathing. The loratidine...

    Chicken Crumbles as cat litter.

What an interesting thread! I've been using Dumor crumbles as litter for about 2 years. All my cats & foster kittens have used it just fine - except for one who started off having a corn snack while doing his business. Ew! That only lasted 2 days though. Crumbles don't clump as hard when it's...

    3 cats gagging

UPDATE: One vet wants them treated for herpes, while the other is sure it's an environmental toxin or allergen. Grr! I gave them all a dose of loratidine yesterday, and they had almost instant symptom relief. We got some lysine chews, but only Marky Mark seems interested. All 3 boys were up...

    Pink tinged vomit

Thanks StephenQ, great reminder. Just sharing what worked for me. But I'm certainly not licensed to treat an animal!

5+ month old kitten with loose stools

Poor little kitty! How stressful. Super stinky poops does sound like a food intolerance. My poor babies had terrible worms when I got them at 8 weeks. Marky Mark recovered just fine, but Donnie continued to have intermittent vomiting & poop problems for a couple of months. My vet said worms can...

    Pink tinged vomit

Agreed that the pink is worrisome. I'd try an anti-emetic until you can get to a vet. I've had success with liquid imodium. Dosage is about 1ml per 5lbs of weight, up to 4x daily. I put chicken broth in a second syringe, and use it as a "chaser" after I dose the medicine. But I'd also give some...

    Cat Peeing Randomly Part 2

Aww, is Finn a tuxedo? So cute! Looks like you've made a little cat-topia by the window. My kitties are jealous! Maybe try some strips of double-sided tape on the area where Finn is peeing, to discourage him from that area of the couch? I guess he might just pee in another spot if you do that...

    Cat Peeing Randomly Part 2

You might try taking the hoods off for a bit, until you get this resolved. Hoods are great for people, but not so hot for kitties. Their little noses are just so much more sensitive than ours! Which would you prefer - a nice open toilet in the bathroom, or a port-a-potty?  The brand new view...

    Cat Peeing Randomly Part 2

How many litterboxes do you have? Are they hooded? Maybe try a different litter? I switched to metal litterboxes & corn litter, and haven't had any pee problems since (Dumor chicken feed crumbles $15/50lbs). Is there a window behind your couch? Or near the couch? If Finn sees another cat...

    3 cats gagging

Yes! I assumed they'd caught worms or another parasite from the kittens. But the vet said it wasn't enough time for anything to have grown big enough to cause symptoms. Also, the kittens have no symptoms, and their two siblings that were already adopted out are perfectly healthy too. The vet...

Need a Quick Answer - not sure my cat got her Prednisolone tonight

Oh goodness, so sorry to hear of your kitty's poor health! I'm not a vet, but the general rule in my house is 1/2 dose, if the original dose was thrown back up. Unless the med has a low toxicity threshold. Good luck!

    3 cats gagging

She's not a feline-only vet, but she did diagnose one of my other cats with proximal femoral metaphyseal osteopathy - not exactly a garden-variety illness. If I end up taking them to another vet, I'll definitely take your suggestion to heart. Thanks for replying!

    3 cats gagging

Hi everyone, We have 3 sick cats in the house. The only symptoms they have in common is lethargy, gagging, and sometimes vomiting. All of them are eating and drinking, no diarrhea or constipation, no runny nose, watery eyes, or sneezing. The biggest oddity is that the symptoms aren't constant -...

My cat keeps attacking me, no matter how much I play with him...

Hi Hannah, I'm so glad your kittie is getting better! Chronic pain definitely changes a cat's behavior, so hopefully the aggression will go away now. Keep us posted!
