Waking up this morning to so many thoughtful, informative replies nearly moved me to tears. @SnugglesAnn thanks for your kind words, it means a lot.
Thank you so much everyone, and I'm sorry that others have gone through similar things. @Talien and @daftcat75 I'm so sorry you went through...
Hi all,
I'm back again and I hope I'm not being too redundant as I know there are plenty of IBD articles and threads. But my Maggie is such an odd case, and while I mostly trust my vet, I really just want to get this off my chest. Any advice would be welcome and appreciated, but hopefully I'll...
Oh so you get it, then! :p I've really dialed back watching the news, it got to be too much after a while. But things are starting to change a bit, so perhaps it's time to tune back in and find something else to complain about lol.
Thank you so much for the reassurances. She used the litter...
I'd like to think my cat is smart, but...she spent all day today sleeping on the floor of the warmest room in the house. I do have tile in the bathroom and kitchen, but for whatever reason she wasn't into it and stayed on the warm hardwood. I did wipe her down a few times with cool water, but...
Thanks everyone for your replies. Many good points were raised, and I decided to spend the day at my place.
I kept the blinds and curtains closed and had fans running all day, and the AC going in the bedroom from about noon on. These things kept the temperature inside tolerable, I think - it's...
Thanks for your reply! Yes, I should have included that! Maggie is roughly 2.5 years old. She's pretty small, just over 7lbs.
And this is my fault for not being clear - she's never been to my parents' place, but my family has come here to visit me several times. Maggie has only been at my home...
Hi all,
Just posting a quick question in hopes of getting some advice. The tl;dr is - which would be more stressful for my nervous cat, extreme heat or a temporary move?
Maggie is a semi-feral who's been with me for a year and a half. She's a real snuggle bug now and very attached to me, but...
Hi @Kat. still no answers unfortunately - her last blood test showed some mildly high folate levels, which apparently means her gut bacteria is a bit off. Her vomiting has decreased in frequency but hasn't gone away. I suspect I will give a diet change a try before I go down the path of more...
Thank you for the kind words. I'm finding it really upsetting. Every time she goes four or five days without an episode I get a bit optimistic, and then totally crushed when she vomits again. I also spend all day at home with her given the virus situation, so it's easy to worry.
Also due to...
@ameliashuman what issue did your cat end up having, if you don't mind me asking? Maggie has lost a small amount of weight but the vet said it was negligible (maybe 50g?). This morning she also had a weird poop - mostly good stool, then a sort of flat poop at the end of the segment.
We're...
Maggie is the same way - in fact, she threw up just this morning (sigh) and then, after a quick cuddle, immediately went to go eat and seems in fine spirits.
I may give the new food a shot before we go to ultrasounds, unless the internal medicine specialist comes through with any pearls of...
Hi @electra! I'm sorry you've been going through this with Otto for so long, that sounds incredibly stressful. Has he had any long term negative effects?
I don't actually know much about the blood work as I haven't seen the actual results, just had a phone call from my vet (who thankfully is...
So Maggie's blood work came back totally fine - no kidney/liver/pancreas problems, and no abnormal cell count that would indicate infection. Her physical exam was good too, no obstructions that they could tell. The vet is going to call the internal medicine specialists at the lab to see if they...
@maggie101 thanks for asking - there doesn't seem to be a pattern to her vomiting that I can tell. She hasn't thrown up since Monday, but I don't think that means anything.
Normally I'd agree about the dry food, but my Maggie's dry food is a prescription high fiber specifically to prevent...
I don't think she has a constipation problem...I usually feed her twice a day and not huge amounts, but I might try to increase feedings and reduce meal sizes and see if that helps, thanks. she does drink plenty of water, so i'm not super concerned about that.
