Thanks again everyone. This post has really helped bring me some closure to this traumatic situation.
It has been getting easier. I can finally start talking about memories of her without crying too much. Some days are worse than others and I still worry constantly about my other cats...
Thank you everyone for your replies, seriously... they mean so much to me. I appreciate all of the support and I am so sorry for making some of you cry! It's been a really hard time for me. It has been two weeks now. Today would have been her 6th birthday... still feeling really emotional...
Hi all. I just needed to share my story with people who will understand what I am going through and to maybe get some closure.
I got Chanel and her sister Vera when they were kittens. I was just out of college, working a terrible job in a call center and living in my parent's basement. I...
I just recently got a ragdoll as well. He is about 7 months now. I have noticed a big change in his behavior. Meows all the time, is constantly getting into things, licks me constantly. I actually have to keep him locked out of the bedroom at night or else I wouldn't get any sleep at all. I...
I also use Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat litter and highly recommend! Scooping daily will also help with the smell. I've noticed that my cats are less likely to cover their poop if the box is starting to get full. If the box is relatively clean, they are much better with covering up. Makes sense...
I think it will take some time for your kitty to form a bond with the rest of the family. Just have them keep playing with her daily and have them take part in her feeding. Sometimes it takes a bit for cats to warm up to people, but if you guys keep at it I'm sure you will see some improvement
I wouldn't recommend bringing a 4th cat in while there are still issues with your current cats. I noticed you mentioned a few times that you play with Jake to tire him out, but are you including the other cats as well? Particularly Samantha, who he seems to have issues with? Is it possible for...
Aw.. great pics! Glad to see things are improving and it definitely sounds like you are doing everything right! I'm sure they will be good friends before too long. I've always found it easier to introduce males.
Have you tried a cardboard scratcher? All of my cats love those. As far as homemade toys, I've actually found they like those the best. My youngest goes crazy for candy wrappers... and I guess anything that makes a "crinkly" sound. Also, straws! For some reason they love playing with straws. We...
I've never been able to remove fur matting on my own. From my experience, the cats I've tried with have squirmed too much that it made me nervous. I actually had my vet do it for me, so if you're due for a visit anyway, that would be a good thing to ask. There was no extra charge for me. They...
I have 5 cats in my home so I've done a bit of research over the years about playing vs fighting. Some helpful things I've come across:
The cats should take turn being the aggressor during playtime. So basically if they are tumbling around/wrestling, one cat shouldn't be on top of the other the...
Yeah, I have seen some that use a tag rather than microchip.. I just don't think she would take too well to a collar. I tried putting one on her when she was younger and somehow she managed to get it stuck in her mouth while still wearing it and it freaked me out a lot. I would put on the guest...
Hey All!
I had posted a while back about my cat who would always poop outside of the litterbox no matter what I did. Thanks to the responses I received, I realized the issue was that she needed a large litter box that no other cats used and it had to clean in order for her to go number 2...
