Cat keeps bothering me at my desk

What are some ways to deter her from doing this? She literally only does it for attention. I wouldn't mind her just walking around as I work, but Smo starts getting aggressive if I try to ignore her - she'll start biting my hands as I type or hit me with her claws out. How do I make her leave...

    Effective Cat Deterrents?

@Furballsmom I'm going to try placing unscented deterrents like SSScat first, then blocking off the balcony corners with decorations so he doesn't have space to jump up. If he keeps coming by then I'll pull out the furniture polish. Hopefully he gets the message quickly.

Why Does My Cat Help Me "make My Bed"?

Mine does this too. Not so much "help," but roll around furiously on the clean sheet. Then when I tuck in the corners she'll run over and start punching my hands...sigh. Why, Smo???

My Cat Behavior Bathroom Behavior Changed And I'm Confused On Why???

It might be a feral lurking around that window since he's both pooping and peeing. Oftentimes they'll eliminate inappropriately because of territorial anxiety if it's not health-related. Could you try placing cat deterrents around the window where he eliminates? Also, has the area been cleaned...

Can Cat Catch Something From Another Cat Through Door?

@mrsgreenjeens Yeah, I guess it depends on the cat. I use orange-scented Nature's Miracle when Smo pukes around the house, and while she doesn't love it she doesn't seem all that bothered by it. I think I'm going to get a couple bottles of SSScat and maybe prop a fake skeleton on the corner of...

    Effective Cat Deterrents?

We have an outdoor/feral cat harassing my resident cat, and he's started coming all the way up to our front doors (which are perforated metal, so they can see/smell one another). I'm planning on buying some SSScat spray but want to cover the perimeter of the our balcony and porch areas with...

Can Cat Catch Something From Another Cat Through Door?

@mrsgreenjeens I try not to walk onto the balcony as much as possible, but it's connected to a sort of porch area where the tenant mailboxes are. Packages will sometimes be left in that area, which worries me. That cat typically perches on the balcony ledge which he jumps onto from the garden...

Can Cat Catch Something From Another Cat Through Door?

There's a neighborhood cat that's been harassing my cat for the past few months - he'll come around in the morning occasionally and seriously agitate her. My bedroom is connected to a porch/ground floor balcony area, and has two perforated metal doors (layered with French doors) that lead...

Cat Keeps Jumping On Dinner Table

@IronHippo I will definitely try this. Right now I'm eating all my meals on the couch since it's only been a few days since the table incident, and it's been working well - she likes to follow me around when I do stuff so she'll just sit by the couch staring at me as I eat. I tend to reward her...

How Do You Deal With Anxiety Related To Your Cat’s Health?

I get really anxious about any changes in Smo's behavior, then transfer it over to my boyfriend, and it turns into a whole big thing. What has really helped me personally is just posting about any weirdness on these forums - I'm sure I can get annoying but fellow posters are always really nice...

Cat Keeps Jumping On Dinner Table

@1 bruce 1 No, the sweater hadn't been washed. Unfortunately I no longer have it; it was only being lint rolled because I sold it online. Your suggestion is a good one though - I may not have the sweater but I can ask my boyfriend to rub a shirt all over his cats and bring that over, lol. His...

Cat Keeps Jumping On Dinner Table

@1 bruce 1 He's a miserable person but I don't think he'd try to hurt her, he's very passive aggressive but not very confrontational. She does pick up on his energy though for sure - he was eating at the table after me and Smo didn't even approach him. She doesn't seem afraid of him but doesn't...

Cat Keeps Jumping On Dinner Table

@Furballsmom Thank you for your great advice as usual - this never even occurred to me. Or maybe even lemon scented air freshener? It shouldn't stress her out too much, right? She hangs out on the couch which is about 5 feet away from the table, but maybe getting her off the couch wouldn't be...

Cat Keeps Jumping On Dinner Table

So I just ended up eating on the couch because Smo started lingering by the table the way she does when she's about to jump up on it. The table doesn't smell so strongly of Nature's Miracle anymore so that may have something to do with it. Are there any deterrents I can use that won't hurt her...

Cat Keeps Jumping On Dinner Table

Covering the table would lead to a lot of complaining, so unfortunately that's not something I can do. I have noticed though that Smo avoids the table whenever I'm sat there painting my nails or if someone is eating something strong-smelling there - if it stinks around that vicinity she usually...
