Keeping a geriatric kitty warm and cozy safely during the day

I have a 19 years 8 month old kitty who is doing pretty well. In winter bc my place gets on the colder side, I have been keeping a heating pad on for him that he absolutely loves. I also keep warm wool blankets piled up for him. Since i have been working from home that’s been fine, but for...

Severe Anemia, any Aranesp and Epogen with Iron Shots Experiences or Knowledge?

Thank you all for your posts. An update: my vet did the Aranesp for a couple months and at which point his numbers were totally good, holding steady, so we stopped the Aranesp completely, and now over a year later…we’re still doing good. He is getting solencia for arthritis and his amlodipine...

Introducing 2 very senior and 1 senior cat (3) not going well

Thank you all so much for the sound advice. I took everyone’s advice and things are going as well as they can for two geriatric cats who have their own special needs. Just to give an update: they now hang out in the same room without any problems until RC (blind and going deaf) walks blindly...

Introducing 2 very senior and 1 senior cat (3) not going well

Hi All, Long post for details but the short of it is I have 2 senior cats and I inherited a beloved third senior cat who hates other cats. My home is large enough that my new cat lives happily away from my resident cats but I would obviously love it if she could happily live with the resident...

Anyone know what pill capsules are feline safe?

I have to divide a powder prescription for my cat and want to put the powder into smaller pills. Are 100% gelatin capsules safe for cats? What about ones made for human consumption? Insights appreciated, thanks!

Thank you for your input, yes it’s so wonderful he continues to enjoy his food! I actually found that Tanya’s website has a whole section about each drug with info, costs, etc. Until I speak with my vet tomorrow bc they’re closed this will be very helpful. In case someone else needs it please...

Severe Anemia, any Aranesp and Epogen with Iron Shots Experiences or Knowledge?

Looking for any experiences or knowledge about Aranesp or Epogen. Also iron shots. My 18 years 7 months old baby is going through it with anemia. Starting Epogen tomorrow or day after depending on soonest pharmacy can get it + iron shots to bring his numbers up, currently at HCT 17. History of...

18.7 year old severe anemia, could this be vaccine associated Immune‐mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA) or the like?

I got to ask many questions including this one - his symptoms are not consistent with IMHA, which is a relief! He will be getting rechecks as long as he sticks around for them, so hopefully, many more. His hematocrit is holding at 17 so we will work to bring that number up now that we stopped...

18.7 year old severe anemia, could this be vaccine associated Immune‐mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA) or the like?

Thank you for the advice. I haven’t mentioned it yet to the vet because I wasn’t sure if it was too unlikely. I will investigate this with the vet.

18.7 year old severe anemia, could this be vaccine associated Immune‐mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA) or the like?

Over the course of many years I have come here for advice with my beloved cat Silly and I have always gotten great support here along with his regular veterinary advice. At 18 years and 7 months old, I think his beautiful chapter is coming to a close. While I’m accepting of this, I’m still...

Senior Cat Mildly Anemic Blood Results

Hi all, may 18.5 year old recently had slightly anemic blood results. Is it not cause for concern at the moment, but is there any additive or natural food remedy (like adding a specific food protein like liver to his diet) that you think could help him?

Cleaning tiny wound near bum and concern of fecal contamination

Thank you @FeebysOwner, coincidentally I’m using chamomile to wipe Silly’s eye corners as per your suggestion and that is still working great. Would you say Bigelow’s cozy chamomile is safe enough to use on the little cut on his rear end? here’s the tea I have at home...
