    Precious Cat Litter

LOVE Precious Cat. It's relatively inexpensive if you get the 40# bag, it's very hard clumping, and the lowest dust litter I've ever used. I don't really use it since I don't have a car and can't haul litter all the way from PETsMART on my bike, but I'd use it if I had it easily available to me.

    Open-mouth panting???

Panting could be anything from heat or overexertion to a sign of heart or respiratory failure. It could also be a sign of labor. If she improved in a cooler place and is eating and acting normally, then probably it's more heat related or potentially labor. The best bet would be to keep a close...

    Innova Evo vs. Felidae

IMO both foods are great. You could do either, or both, either by mixing or rotating. Either way to me you can't go wrong with these foods.

    Friskies and 9Lives Wet Food

IMO Friskies is passable - by no means a "good" food but not the worst out there. What my friends who have 20-30 cats in their houses plus 30-50 alley cats that they feed do is feed a higher quality dry food (a combination of Nutro and Costco) plus Friskies wet. This seems to work pretty well...

Need some help talking with the vet

I think a good option is Royal Canin Urinary S/O. It's more grain heavy than I would prefer but it is by-product free. For a cat who has had surgery to remove bladder stones, I think there are benefits to a prescription food designed to regulate urinary pH. To me S/O is by far the best of the...

    Cat ate a Rubber Band

If she continues to act okay, she probably is okay. Signs to watch for would include vomiting, diarrhea (especially bloody), no bowel movement for over 36 hours or so, lack of appetite, and lethargy. For the future, it would be a very good idea to keep a bottle of hydrogen peroxide on hand for...

FIV positive kitty with skin infection

I would definitely recommend a second opinion especially since your vet has pretty much admitted to not knowing what is going on. Your best bet would be a board certified dermatologist or feline practitioner. Your vet's office should have a list of specialists that they routinely refer clients to.

    Difference in CAN FOOD????

The chunks in sauce are just that - chunky food in gravy. It's made to look like meat in gravy but it's really mostly held together by wheat gluten. *All* of the recalled canned pet foods in the US and Canada were "chunks in sauce" varieties. The other style is basically the consistency of a...

    Purina ONE vs. Science Diet

I second what Sharky said. I'd consider the foods to be pretty comparable mid-grade foods but both are very pricey relative to quality. You can switch to premium quality for pretty much the same price, with the brands Sharky recommended.

Are there any nonsurgical options to sterilize a female?

I would expect that her problem was related only to isofluorane and she probably wouldn't experience problems with another anesthesia. Sevofluorane and even injectable anesthetic agents (ketamine, telazol, xylazine, valium, etc) would be alternatives. A board-certified surgeon would definitely...

Da bird . Is it really thay good????

Holy cow, yes, it is that good! My cats literally do backflips for it.

Ladies!!!! What do you do when pants don't fit you right?!!

I lean toward low-rise pants - not ultra-low-rise since I'm tall and long waisted, but low-rise. That way I only have to deal with fitting in the hips and thighs and the waist becomes a non-issue. I'm not the easiest body type to fit but I find that if I try on enough different pants I'll...

How Many Cats is TOO MUCH for 1 Litter Box (No Matter How Big It IS...)

I go by the rule of one box per two cats, plus one extra. So one box for one cat, two for two or three, three for four or five, etc. If any of the boxes are extra-large (larger than any commercial litterboxes, such as Rubbermaid storage containers), then you can reduce the number by 1. Also, if...

cancer in older cat - surgery or no? advice pls

I would have a long talk with the vet but if I were you I would probably opt to have the surgery. The biggest challenge will be her kidneys so you will definitely have to go through a board certified oncologist probably in consultation with a board certified internist. It takes extra care but it...

    dry food for kittens

Where are you located and what options do you have in terms of pet supply stores/feed stores where you live? That will help us give better information. Another great resource is http://www.petfooddirect.com. They will deliver food and other supplies directly to your home if you are in the US...
