Thanks for the replies! Gives me ideas to consider. I didn't think about pate being less unwanted extras but that makes sense. Right now I'm buying a mix of textures but my cats like pate fine so I will stick to that.
I was doing commercial frozen raw - usually Small Batch. I'd considered...
Hello all,
I recently in the past few months switched my two cats from mostly commercial frozen raw (with canned wet every few days) to all canned wet food. I did this mostly for cost reasons. The price for raw has nearly doubled in the past few years and I've since become semi-retired. They...
I've been trying to save some money on cat food. I recently switched my two cats from mostly commercial raw to mostly canned wet food. So far I've bought locally with a few online purchases when I've seen a sale. I've done some looking on Chewy but I find their search engine frustrating. I'd...
This is the same with me. I have 2 indoor cats which are both are around 10 lbs give or take. I just transitioned them from about 75% commercial raw and 25% canned to 100% wet canned. I split a 5.5 oz can morning and night so we go through 2 cans a day which works out to ~60 5.5oz cans a...
Hello everyone,
I have two 7 year old cats that I adopted when they were 6 months old. They have been fed mostly commercial frozen raw since then. During the height of the pandemic it was easier to stockpile wet canned food since I don't have a lot of freezer space so they ate mostly canned...
Can you feed freeze dried raw without hydrating it first? I’m thinking as a treat so not a full serving — maybe just a few pieces.
My cats are otherwise fed commercial frozen raw with the occasional freeze dried treat (NW Naturals Raw Rewards) that isn’t formulated to be rehydrated.
My cats...
Hello - I've had my cats for about 4-1/2 years - I got them from a rescue at 6 months. I don't know their exact history before I adopted them, but they were possibly born feral or outdoors or taken from their mother too soon. They were super skittish and it took months of working with them to...
I would watch it closely and any sign of redness or heat I’d contact your health care provider. I’ve had a few cat bites that got infected (especially puncture wounds) despite me cleaning it immediately and doing all the usual things to prevent infection.
Sending all my positive Bubbles come home thoughts! So many stories of cats coming home after a long time. Something will give and she'll be back.:grouphug:
It sounds like I need to do a better job of scooping the wet sawdust more often. But I’ll see if the baking soda would work too next time we change out. It wouldn’t really mix in since the pine is pellets, but a layer on the bottom might help. Thanks!
Thanks! Agreed…it grosses me out when I realize how wet it’s gotten. Also I’m wondering if we should also use less pellets…especially if adding fresh daily. My husband usually does the weekly full clean out and I’ve wondered if he’s putting too much in. I don’t think the cats would mind less...
Thanks for your response! However I should clarify I’m planning on sticking with pine and also don’t have a different spot for my boxes (wish I did! Really small house.) So mainly wondering what others who use pine do to keep the pee smell to a minimum. Thanks again!
