The lungs get wet because the infection causes the little air sacs in the lungs to get inflamed, which in turn makes them fill with fluid. Make sure Pixie is drinking plenty of water I know many patients think being dehydrated will dry out their lungs but it'll make things worse.
I'm happy Pixie is stable, but it sucks that there's very little improvement. I agree with everyone else's suggestion of having the fluid removed, BUT it may only be a temporary solution. Ask your vet if he thinks the fluid would come back. It will give your kitty instant relief.
