My Experience With Blockages and PU Surgery

Will he allow you to look at the area? You can clean it by very gently patting the area with a clean, damp cloth. It's better if it's a white cloth, you'll be able to see any discharge better. Is he on antibiotics still? It would be a good idea to take him for a check tomorrow. If he stops...

    Sweet Moww

Thanks everyone, I'm taking his passing pretty hard... he's not the first pet that I've lost but he was very special to me. I think I'll be a bit better once his ashes come home.

    Sweet Moww

I just wanted to let everyone know that my sweet boy Moww passed away today. He was a wonderful boy who had been through so much. He was approximately 9 when I got him but we suspect he was much older. We had him for about a year. Because of the number of pets we have, and the number we will...

    Urinary SO

I highly doubt that it was the food that caused this. There is/was more likely something else going on.  Kidney disease can be genetic, caused by medications, chronic urinary obstructions, toxin exposure (eating plants, etc), other disease, etc.

Vets turning away patients who can't pay up front

That's my experience with payment plans as well. We discuss it as a group and include the receptionists as well because they are the ones that get to hear about all the heartwrenching details first, know if the client complains about costs and what their likelihood of paying would be the best -...

My Experience With Blockages and PU Surgery

We have never sent home a cream to prevent urine scalding but it does make sense if they are just dribbling all the time. We tend to keep them in clinic longer though so we can see how they are recuperating. If we felt like they were going to get urine scalding, we would send home a cream I'm...

My Experience With Blockages and PU Surgery

If you have any syringes you can try syringing a bit of wet food mixed with water to see if it will stimulate him to eat, just make sure you're doing it properly so that he doesn't aspirate. Definitely call your vet if you are worried, they may want to change his meds or add an appetite stimulant.

You can also get and return them at major pharmacies for free. The clinic probably charges for them to offset what they get charged for sharps disposal and to make sure they get them back. I know we have a low return rate when we send them out (we don't charge). Just make sure you get the right...

My Experience With Blockages and PU Surgery

I'll see if I can find them, they were on my old cellphone that died but when I get home from work I'll see if I can pull them up and post them.

Vets turning away patients who can't pay up front

Totally fine - different perspectives and people get jaded :) I did a lot of rescue work before getting into the veterinary field, so I have experience with both and there are definitely flaws in both systems. Ideally, all groups and vets would be able to come to some sort of understanding, but...

Vets turning away patients who can't pay up front

A lot of vets won't script out medication for a couple of reasons. We want to make sure that the pet is on the correct dosage and type of medication, we want to make sure that all of the ingredients in that medication are safe for pets (some pharmacies will use the generic unless specified, this...

Vets turning away patients who can't pay up front

I also think it's important to research your vet first and find out if they deal with companies like CareCredit or any of the foundations (like the Farley Foundation mentioned above, not all do). I don't want this to sound the wrong way, but if you think you may need it at some point, it's good...

Vets turning away patients who can't pay up front

Research your Michigan clinics first - most aren't that much cheaper than here and when you consider the drive (not sure where exactly you live), by the time you pay gas and currency exchange you might be equal. There's also a few things to mention here as well - do you know what something...

The vet killed my unborn kittens!

This is a very old thread, if you would like to post about your experience you might get more replies by starting a thread of your own. Regardless, when you bring an animal in for surgery you usually have to sign a surgery consent form that basically states you can't sue the clinic if ANYTHING...

    So called "dental foods"

Both foods are slightly different, I don't know a ton about either but my dogs are on the RC dental diet because we get it for free (one dog is a blood donor, they give us free food). I will say that it has helped clean a lot of nasty stuff off the dogs' teeth, they look great. The cats' here...
