Introducing new kitten to mature cat

I had a very similar situation when I adopted a kitten. My senior was 13 and had lived with another cat but it had been about 3 years of being an only cat. This was probably 2.5 years ago, I had brought the new cat in and tried all the things you're doing maybe for 4 months, and then finally...

    pre-built cat shelter?

I agree with this and I use an always-on heating pad that my ferals appreciate. I use the one from Kitty Tube (you can go to the kitty tube website or Amazon) and they like it more than the K&H one. Also agree with the heated water bowls - what a game changer!!

Did I mess up not releasing 2 kittens?

keep them! They seem like they're on a great track with you. Will you be able to adopt them yourself? About mama...I had on experience trapping a feral mom and 4 kittens for TNR when the kittens were 5 months. It was dead of winter. They used heated shelters in my yard so I figured they'd...

    IBD/nausea/no appetite

I just went through a similar issue with my cat who ended up putting to sleep earlier this week after almost two weeks of eating hardly anything. Two things I wish I would have looked into 1) feeding tube earlier on...I didn't realize her normal vet could not give her a feeding tube, so when...

    No Good Decisions

Oh no...that's a little what I'm wondering because she always had some issues with coughing like something was stuck in her throat, and swallowed a lot. They checked her GI and mouth and she did have GI lymphoma, but I wonder if somehow we missed nasal cancer that would have been found with a...

    No Good Decisions

I had to say goodbye to my sweet 16 yo Tortie two days ago who had small cell lymphoma that progressed to large cell lymphoma. It took about two weeks to figure out what the problem was and she didn't eat much during that time, but never developed hepatic liver. Two days before giving up, we...

Lost Little Red to saddle thrombus and heart failure - now what?

UPDATE - I called this morning and Little Red has already been cremated. I hope his family is able to move on soon. His mom definitely seems like she is looking for him by coming to my patio frequently to look around and then going back out to look some more, like she's rechecking all his...

Lost Little Red to saddle thrombus and heart failure - now what?

Thank you for sharing about Sybil! I appreciate hearing your experience and I am sorry for your loss as well. I think I will call the ER tomorrow morning and see if it is not too late to bring his body home. It didn't even occur to me that is something I should do before I saw them looking...

Lost Little Red to saddle thrombus and heart failure - now what?

I'm sad to report that this morning I found 2.5 year old Little Red in my yard with a saddle thrombus. I thought he had been hit by a car since he couldn't move his back legs but the ER identified it right away since his feet were cold. We did an X-ray to confirm he was already in heart...

Help ferals find my new home?

thank you! What kind of bed did you use that they enjoy? When you did a gradual move, did you put food in both places for a while? I am not sure yet of the exact timing for my move, I might need to do some remodeling at the new house so I might not move myself until closer to spring.

Help ferals find my new home?

thanks! I will start early as you both suggested. I will have time. I would love to move them all inside but I already moved two of the litter inside with my senior cat who really doesn't appreciate the new housemates (even after 1.5 years, she still hisses and fights with them). Maybe after...

Help ferals find my new home?

Hi! I've posted about my ferals in the past and gotten great advice from everyone. My feral mom and her two kittens who are now 2 years old (all successful TNRs) still come by daily to eat, and as it's getting colder they've been using the kitty tubes I have set up for warmth. I love seeing...

    Rehoming Outdoor Ex-Feral

Thank you all! I’m going to let my friend know that there is a chance he will be tough to adjust, but that if she’s up to put in the work then that’s great but if not, that’s ok too. I think he will be ok eventually if she is open to working on him.

    Rehoming Outdoor Ex-Feral

Thank you! I think at this point I am also trying to decide if he’s ready to go to a new home. For additional information, he spends a lot of time inside with me. He likes sleeping next to me and doesn’t mind me handling him. That’s why I was so surprised that he seemed so scared when I...
