I'm sorry I don't know many house remedies that would help. Have you figured out the problem? Please keep me updated on what happens. Sending good vibes your way! :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
He looks most like the overweight one. If you feel his ribs, they are harder to feel, and there is a little bit of fat in between. It is also hard to feel his spine. He needs to loose a pound or two, but I think he'll be alright.
We aren't exactly sure about this weight, but we think Moon weighs 15-16 lbs. He is a black DSH and 3 years old.
When we only had 2 cats, he ate most of the wet food, but now we have 4, so he might be eating less. Is he too overweight, or should he be okay?
From what I can see in the pictures, he looks okay. If you think there is a real issue with he weight, you should see a vet about it. My cat Rocky is a DSH and looks skinny but long, and he is about 14.6 lbs. Moon is possibly 15-16 lbs (we aren't sure) but he is definetly a bit too chubby.
You should find out the average weight of 9-year-old cats and his breed, then weigh him. Here's how to weigh him without a vet. First, weigh yourself while holding him on a scale. Then, weigh just yourself. Subtract the numbers, and that is the closest you'll get without a vet weighing him...
Update:
We room Rocky to the vet and he does have gingivitis. On top of that, he has something else causing the drooling, and there are 3 possibilities. The first 2 are the most likely.
1. A tooth problem
2. An allergic reaction to something he ate
3. Upper Respiratory Infection (unlikely)
You should get him tested for Lungworm and Heartworm, which can both cause coughing, and it could be asthma or URI. Let me know what happens when you get the x-rays!
Update:
I feel so bad for him. I haven't seen him drink, and when he eats, it looks like it hurts him a lot. He drools a lot. He looks unhappy unless I pet him, but then he purrs. Yesterday he was hiding, like cats do when they're scared. We'll be taking him to the vet today though.
I don't want you to waste any money, but I think you need to take her to the vet. Is it still getting bigger? I would say it's infected, but if it doesn't hurt her it might not be. A vet should know, but I've never actually seen that happen.
