The "Look what I received from my Secret Santa" Thread - 2008

I just got two wonderful boxes from my Secret Santa: kluchetta. All the gifts were very thoughtful and totally unexpected. When I'm able to find my digital camera I'll take some pictures and post them. I just wanted to thank her from the bottom of my heart.

    Eloping and Marriages and such

Your wedding is your wedding. I got married with 15 people in attendance, and then went to work the next day. My brother spent 150k, and had 650 people attend, and took a month long honey moon. Both were right. We are very different people.

To everyone who's served out country, or is a family member of one who has served: Thank you. Welcome Home. We wouldn't be here today with out your service. Because this is a cat site I found a wonderful slide show on The New York Times website: Dogs Serving Veterans

    CUTENESS WARNING....More Henry

A few things. 1. Cuteness warning doesn't cover it. I wasn't feeling well this morning and that little ball of gray fluff helped me feel energized. 2. You should warn people about your kitten. Really. I mean people with tricky hearts may just end up clutching them when he's around. He needs a...

    Kashi oatmeal

Did you try the one with Flax seeds in it? I can imagine that one's first jump into eating better could be a little put off if they see small black seeds in their breakfast. Try this, buy plain oatmeal and put some honey and fruit in it in the mornings. You can adjust it to your own taste, and...

    Coffee Cake...

I've taken six years of Latin, so I know what you mean. I've also stuffed dates with feta cheese and drizzled honey and olive oil on top of them. It was very yummy. As for the fermented fish, I just sort of let that go. I've never felt the need to visit a vomitorium, yet I have the distinct...

    Coffee Cake...

The fact is that what I watch and what I read influences what I cook. When I was rereading Lord of The Rings a few years ago I created mushroom dishes that made my husband flee from the kitchen. It took me three weeks to read the whole series, and I used mushrooms in almost every dish for that...

Newlyweds and up what did you do with your wedding dress???

Mine wasn't a traditional dress. It was a brown linen shift that was very pretty. To be honest, I have no idea what happened to it. Oh, it would fall off of me if I tried to wear it now. I'm 50 pounds lighter.

    I'm so proud of him!

Hon, if you think you have a chef you should encourage him. There are some great childrens cookbooks at the local library, and you could slowly start teaching him now. In fact, he may surpass you in the cooking department quickly. 10 year olds are like sponges. Check it out. The worst that...

*Gasp* WarGames is 25 years old?

It's most likely going to be a bit on the campy side if you've never seen it. It was dependent on a lot of 1983 technology, so some of it may make you laugh or at the very least feel slightly nostalgic. It's not a "great" film by any stretch, but it sort of hit the nail on the head by...
