Thanks for all of the great suggestions. The Valium sounds genius to me! I also never thought to see if the vet or a tech could make a house call. It would be would be worth the extra money to have it done without upsetting her too much.
I can only imagine how tough it is to groom a Coon! I...
That is a great idea! In my 40 plus years as a cat owner, I have never had to calm a kitty down, but it didn't dawn on my to ask for kitty Valium! I am calling my vet right after Christmas. Thanks!
I really have a dilemma on my hands. A little background: Last January I rescued 5 month old siblings. I was hoping to adopt a pair, and the shelter insisted that these siblings be placed together and with someone with experience with feral cats. That would be me :)
I was in love...
Hi,
I have a situation with 9 month old siblings I rescued in January. They were turned into the shelter at about 2 months and were with a foster family until I adopted them at 5 months old. I wanted to adopt 2 cats together and was open to any combination/situation that the shelter had...
I wouldn't be able to put it on my scared kitty, Ruby. I finally got her to let me pat her during meals. I bought every spray out there and have had no luck.
@stewball, your black cat looks similar to my Max with the tuxedo markings. Max has 2 little vertical lines under his nose like a mustache. Makes me laugh. I appreciate that you are able to understand the dynamics of my cats' behavior. I have gotten Max to stay away from Ruby's food bowl -...
This is all great stuff. I think the gloves would be a better option right now. I can't catch her!
When I feed them, I sit in between them and when he starts to get curious about her bowl of food, which is the exact same thing, I have been putting my hand in front of him and say, "no".
She...
Cat nap, your suggestions have been great. I may need to get my vet to give me something to sedate Ruby. I tried to get her with the blanket, but she just runs away and hides.
Needless to say, there has been no brother bullying; which is a good thing
oneandahalfcats, I appreciate your passion. I have been a cat owner for almost 40 years and this is the first time that I am having such a tough time with a kitty. I have had feral cats in the past and have been very successful in socializing them. That said, I am here on this site looking...
Yes, that is how I started out with her. I kept her in a small space and she gradually began to trust me. Since she has been running and hiding, I can't get to her. UGH! She will not even eat with me present. I know I have a long road ahead of me.
HI,
They are both spayed and neutered. When I was looking to adopt, I came across these two and fell in love. The foster mom would only let them be adopted out together. They gave me a discount, now I know why. He has been the aggressor, but she has never been too far away from him, until...
Awe, thanks for the interest. I did separate their bowls at meal time and she knocked him off the top perch a few times. I was so proud of her! But now we have another problem, which is why I think Max hasn't been bothering her.
Last week when I tried to put her in the carrier for a vet...
I am so glad that I found this site! My kitties have been with us for 1 month now, they are about 6 months old. The Male, Max is a joy. He is fun and affectionate. They were found abandoned at about 2 months old and lived with a foster family. His sister, Ruby is completely scared of...
I know, right? For example, last year she rescued a kitten and they couldn't decide on a name (per usual). My nieces, who are late teens early twenties, just
called him Kitty. My sister tested names on him and finally about a month later she decided he was Rocky. Last night I was at her...
