That is very interesting... do you know why they are struggling? Is it with the efficacy of treatment? Or financial issues?
I have been following the survivor page on zenbycat.org, and the felines on there appear to have an overwhelmingly positive reaction to the GS treatment... for the most...
Your comments to Antonio are absolutely spot on. We are truly pioneers, and this is the wild west in a sense. We are the ones that have to apply a huge amount of tenacity and commitment - mentally, financially, and emotionally, to venture forth in this treatment plan. Furthermore, we have to go...
You are quite right! It was quite a marathon to fight to get hold of the medicine in time! In my country, we are allowed to legally obtain Remdesivir, as long as there is a veterinary prescription and a permit in place. The permit is tricky - a veterinarian has to apply to our government for...
I don't know yet how I am going to cover the full treatment. I have already used up half of the reserves in my overdraft and am barely 20% through treatment. However, there is a lot of money on this planet and I'll have to work to channel some of it towards Gryskat's treatment, but there is only...
Yip, Remdesivir is near-identical to the GS44 compound. In fact, if I understand it correctly, the GS44 compound is the active ingredient in Remdesivir. The treatments are therefore similar, and the cost is eye-popping! :headshake:
I am so sorry to hear that! Hugs! My thoughts are with you, it is insanely hard to deal with the death of a beloved furbaby. :bawling2::bawling2::bawling2:
Thinking of you 🤗
Thank you to everybody for your prayers and good wishes!
Herewith a quick update. I am very happy to report that Gryskat has been home for almost two weeks now after having spent 8 days in the veterinary hospital. We are on day 18 of treatment, which consists of a daily subcutaneous injection...
Good grief, that is not the case at all!
After a lot of effort and 8 days in emergency vet care with a feeding tube inserted, my boy started FIP treatment with Remdesivir. He has been back home almost two weeks, and we are now on day 18 of his subcutaneous injections. He is flourishing - back...
Thank you all for your very kind wishes, thoughts, prayers, and responses. I very much appreciate it.
I feel kind of emotionally knackered. It has been a rollercoaster of gathering contacts and information and talking to veterinarians. I have in fact been in contact with the FIP Warriors Group...
Further to my previous two posts - my precious and loving male cat was diagnosed with FIP last week by my local vet.
I have since then been trying to find a vet that would be willing to source us Remdesivir (legal in South Africa) so that we can start treatment asap.
We had to, unfortunately...
Thank you all!
Unfortunately, my worst fears were confirmed, and he does have moderate Ascites. I am awaiting lab results, and have already started making preliminary enquiries on sourcing Remdesivir in my country should the vet be positive of a FIP diagnosis. If it is not FIP, we'll have to...
Thank you to everyone for responding!
I actually had quite a productive day yesterday, in that I found the site for FIP warriors, and immediately sent an enquiry. I have already received a response.
I also found a local group manned by a lady who I believe to be a proper Angel on Earth, who...
Thank you for your response.
The vet only listened to his heart with a stethoscope. This is one of the reasons that I am a bit hesitant with this particular veterinary clinic's capabilities. Travel is a problem as I am without a vehicle during the day, and stuck for long hours in my retail...
