I think supplementing wouldn’t hurt!!

My recent foster did this with her kittens, too - I was very alarmed at first. Everything I read at the time said that it's normal and that she is most likely "disciplining" them - just keep a close eye. It is a bit unnerving to watch!!

Oh my gosh. Biscuit and her babies are beyond precious. They look so healthy, with those round bellies and colorful, shiny coats! Well done both to kitty mom and human mom. :)

So wonderful and impressive that she is single-handedly keeping 7 kittens fed. Nature never ceases to amaze! This must not be her first rodeo!!

She is precious! And it's wonderful that she's eating canned food. You can just mix some formula in with the wet food if you'd like to. :)

I syringe fed them small amounts of baby food and fluids every 90 minutes up until about midnight last night. This morning, they ate on their own!! And two have even had normal looking poops. :yess::yess: Words cannot describe my relief! I hope they continue to improve.

Since she was stray, you might want to take her in anyways and make sure she doesn't have any parasites - I would think she likely does as most strays do. I believe there are de-worming medications that are safe for pregnant cats.

Yeah, unfortunately mom really doesn't want to let them nurse most of the time. When they were all in the carrier together, she didn't really have a choice because of the close quarters. I'm just totally perplexed by the sudden refusal to eat food after weeks of eating consistently. So bizarre...

Well, vet visit was a bit inconclusive. I did learn that Lentil is a GIRL, not a boy! Oh my gosh, I feel like such a dummy! The vet sexed them while they were in the ICU at roughly one week old and they must have mis-sexed her, and silly me never thought to double check! Her fluffy fur makes it...

They will be able to give you a rough estimate if they do an ultrasound. But even then it's not an exact science. My current foster had an ultrasound when I got her, and the vet estimated she was about a week away from labor at the time. But the babies didn't come for another 3 weeks after that...

I'm not sure! I do think though, had little Chia survived, she would have had medium hair also. I've read that longer haired cats tend to have lower birth weights, and she and lentil were both born quite tiny and with very similar markings. I'm curious about how the genetics work too!
