Last ditch effort to save the sweetest ex-feral cat (won't use litter boxes)

We've got her peeing in 2 litter boxes (out of 6) and on 2 puppy pads at the moment. She's not peeing on the floors at the moment which is the most important thing - but she still doesn't want to transition to full litter boxes. For example, my front door is a little bit away from most of the...

Last ditch effort to save the sweetest ex-feral cat (won't use litter boxes)

She truly is the sweetest, happiest little thing. Any physical contact with her results in her instantly purring so fiercely that she gets the hiccups :) And I mean any contact. If she's sleeping next to you and you accidently elbow her in the face - she purrs. She weaves between your feet when...

Last ditch effort to save the sweetest ex-feral cat (won't use litter boxes)

Excellent, thank you for all these responses! The puppy pads inside a litter box is a fabulous idea, I will try that as well as some of the Cat Attract in another new litter box and even perhaps a cave or enclosed litter area. I'm also going to order that indoor grass potty thing, another...

Last ditch effort to save the sweetest ex-feral cat (won't use litter boxes)

Thanks for the reply and for the help :) She doesn't seem to pee in the same spots, making it difficult to put down new litter boxes. I do fully agree and feel like it's a habit she can't break and hides and pees to be in safe mode or something similar. She had a difficult life outside due to...

Last ditch effort to save the sweetest ex-feral cat (won't use litter boxes)

Thank you for the reply and your help! :) I do use puppy pee pads surrounding all my litter boxes just for easy cleanup due to another one of my cats that stands inside the box and sometimes pees outside. I have not tried the Cat Attract littler, but I will go get some right away! She does not...

Last ditch effort to save the sweetest ex-feral cat (won't use litter boxes)

Thank you for the response and for your help :) We did have her checked for UTI and possible foot issues, but all negative. She was born outside in a shelter I built in the forest behind my house 8 years ago. I had her spayed 5 years ago. She has not and will never be declawed and has never...

Last ditch effort to save the sweetest ex-feral cat (won't use litter boxes)

Thank you for your help and the reply :) We took this cat in 2 years ago, and at first we did just what you said - gave her sand and potting soil and leaves to get her used to a litter box. And she used (still uses) it when she's locked in the room with nowhere else to go but the litter box. We...

Last ditch effort to save the sweetest ex-feral cat (won't use litter boxes)

A feral cat I took in almost 2 years ago won't pee in the litter boxes. Has been medically declared perfect by the vet. I have 5 cats, the 5th is a little old spayed feral that I've been caring for outside for 10 years - I took her into my house 2 years ago. She is 99% deaf and wasn't thriving...

A New "Raw"some Beginning... (yup - another one LOL)

This makes me think of all those commercials on TV for cat food...  they all say, "flavors cats naturally crave, like chicken and beef".  Cats naturally crave beef?  Whens the last time you saw a house cat race across a field and take down a cow??  I'd think if it's flavors cats naturally crave...

Started them on raw tonight :D

Yep, I gotta do this with one of my cats too, the crazy one, that requires the fake toppers. My raw eaters did like the Primal quail sample I got.  They also all LOVE the freeze dried pheasant that comes in the Wysong kibble bag (Nurture with Free Range Pheasant) - even the picky cat that hates...

    Weaning a kitten to raw

Sorry, I have no input and nothing helpful to add other than following LDG around quoting her posts... But I did wanna say thanks for taking care of this little fellow :)  I was going to come post the below link, but as usual, Laurie beat me to it.

if making home made, what supplements do you use and why?

I'm gonna play along, even though I don't feed home made raw - but I do use a few supplements.  I also plan to eventually add some home made raw to my rotation, so I am very interested in this thread. Quick background:  4 cats fed a rotation of high quality grain-free canned, commercial raw...

    An interesting development tonight!!

While I'm not 100% sure what just happened in this thread, I did want to point out that I feed my cats a rotation of grain free canned foods, commercially prepared raw foods (Rad Cat, Natures Variety, Stella & Chewy's), and grain free/starch free kibble (Epigen-90).  At this point in time, I'm...

    Thoughts on Rad Cat

Well, not much to add that Feralvr didn't cover, so I'll just repost that.   Agree 100%. Rad Cat is great stuff, prefer a rotation, etc etc. etc.  I even use the same brands, minus Nature's Menu.  But I do use more canned non-raw in my rotation. Oh, and welcome! :)
