Cats suddenly getting fussy over their food choices

Hi all Hope everyone is well - I have not been on the site for a long time. Our cats have suddenly got fussy over the food they eat. We have now changed to another brand and they still won't eat. The bigger, younger cat is very grumpy about it - and when he gets hungry in this way, he attacks...

Any tips on getting a blind cat to use a cat flap?

I should add, the cat flap is on a door that backs on to a closed conservatory (so she can't get out of the house). She likes it there, but it is unheated so very human-unfriendly in the winter! That's why we want to keep the door closed!

    No, just a door

Helping a cat with separation anxiety

They tolerate each other - the young one wants to play with the blind one, but she is very wary of him. any time she perceives he is close she will hiss. They've been living together, with us for 18 months, and there has been little progress on them becoming true buddies!

Helping a cat with separation anxiety

Hi all My wife and I have a very anxious blind 7-year-old cat. During the pandemic, we spent a lot of time at home and she got used to us being around. Now we go out more, and even when just one of us leaves, the cat hears the door close and gets anxious. She tends to grab a small teddy bear...

Any tips on getting a blind cat to use a cat flap?

Hi all We have two cats - one is a blind 7-year-old who is somewhat nervous, and a playful two-year-old (who dominates the blind one a bit). The younger cat has started using the cat flap, after a bit of coaxing. But the blind one (who probably doesn't like the scent of her annoying feline...

Letting a cat out independently after moving house - why is it three weeks' wait?

Yes - he is microchipped...and we have some excellent photos!

Letting a cat out independently after moving house - why is it three weeks' wait?

Yes, only five days to go now... He is desperate to get out. There are four accessible window sills in the house; he goes to one, spends two minutes there, then goes to the next...and on to the next. He's not always restless and complaining, and does enjoy his food and lengthy catnaps! I took...

Letting a cat out independently after moving house - why is it three weeks' wait?

We have a conservatory that we've slightly catified...But I still think he's better off roaming around...gives our other cat some welcome space too!

I think we can just about manage another week!

Letting a cat out independently after moving house - why is it three weeks' wait?

We tried this before. It just made cat 2 even madder, and the reaction time of blind cat 1 is still quite limited.

Letting a cat out independently after moving house - why is it three weeks' wait?

Thanks for all this excellent advice. I think as you all suggest, it is important to hold on for a while and, although we might feel we are going backwards, there is light at the end of the tunnel. The backwards feeling comes from seeing cat No 2 more and more agitated at being indoors. What...

Letting a cat out independently after moving house - why is it three weeks' wait?

Hi all We have just moved with our two cats, not only house but from Serbia to the UK. So quite a change for both of them! Both have adapted well, particularly the younger two-year-old. We live in a very quiet cul-de-sac that is cat heaven really, with a lot of trees, gardens and hardly any...

Has anybody tried 'leash training' their cat?

Some of these tips have been amazingly helpful - thanks very much. I think there is a distinction between taking the cat out on a leash for countryside walks and taking them outside to get used to their immediate environment. My wife and I have just moved to a very quiet cul-de-sac where (one...

Short haul flight with two cats - any advice for the pre-flight and flight?

Hi Margot and others Sorry about the late response...there has been a lot to sort out, in terms of moving house and moving countries too! The main thing is that the cats are relatively settled. It was a difficult journey at times; we took a taxi from our flat in Belgrade to the airport, then...
