My Cat, Ally, Was Spayed Today ...

Thank you!! I don't want to jinx it, but I think Ally's recovery is on a roll. She's done incredibly well and even seems to be able to resist picking or irritating the incision site. Considering my other cat surgery had to involve one of those dreaded cones, I'm very pleased with her road to...

My Cat, Ally, Was Spayed Today ...

Hello! Thanks so much for your insight. Ally has done remarkably well as far as her recovery goes. I'm really impressed with her healing and (mostly) ignoring her incision site. The incision is healing up very nicely as far as I can tell, and to my surprise, she has not been agitating it...

My Cat, Ally, Was Spayed Today ...

... and all is well as far as her post-surgical behavior. She appears to be comfortable for the time being. However, I'm noticing that her incision is not completely sealed. Is this normal or should I worry? The vet technician told me that they used a surgical glue rather than sutures, so...

Comment by 'Dee Ashley' in article 'Introducing Cats To Cats'

Thank you for this article! My 9 y/o cat just lost his brother that he was very attached to and it's become obvious he needs a companion cat to help fill the void. While I'm not expecting (although I'd be thrilled if this were to happen), him to become as close to a new family member as he was...

Surviving cat is not adjusting well at all to the loss of his brother, what do I do?

I mean, who could just sit back and let a cat with this much character be sad?? He's so expressive, always has been! These three photos are all vet visit days!

I've never fostered before. Does one just go to the local shelter and express interest? Is this a common practice? I live in the Dallas, Texas area, so shelters are in abundance around here.

Surviving cat is not adjusting well at all to the loss of his brother, what do I do?

Thanks you guys for responding. Part of me feels some excitement at the idea of a new kitten (I'm not opposed to an adult either!), yet part of me feels guilty for even thinking about it - like I'm trying to replace my beautiful Jack. I know that isn't true, but the feeling is still there. I'm...

Surviving cat is not adjusting well at all to the loss of his brother, what do I do?

About 2 months ago, I experienced the most painful loss I've ever felt.  My 5-year-old cat, Jack, died of a lymphoma that took him only a week after his diagnosis.  He was only 5 years old.  His brother (I say that, but not brother by blood), Andy, began exhibiting a lot of behavioral changes...

Loopie was with me for 12 years.  I still miss him a lot, but hopefully he and Jack can keep each other company and watch over Andy and I down here.

This is Jack and this is probably my favorite pet photo ever.  It's a tie between this one and Andy, the singing cat (see the "vet day" photo)!
