Not sure how to curb aggression by resident cat

Should I bring back the big dog kennel? Ori would not do well in it, but Loop is okay with it. I could put him in there for a day so Ori can feel "safe" approaching him to sniff?

Not sure how to curb aggression by resident cat

I guess I spoke too soon. Ori hasn't gotten better at all. Loop has been nothing but GOOD, and goes out of his way to avoid Ori, and Ori is just consistently mean to him. Sneaks up when he's sleeping to smack him, hissing, etc. Today he RAN at him out of the blue and they fought until I...

Opinion poll about indoor vs outdoor cats, behaviorally speaking

Indoor cats and outdoor cats have the same habits and tendencies. The difference is outside typically the owners aren't there to see it/watch it. A cat scratching on a tree is fine, but the same behavior indoors on a couch is obviously seen as a problem. Spraying outside is generally seen as...

cat suddenly wiping bum on floor.

I'm glad you figured it out! If she starts up again, her weight could absolutely be contributing. If a kitty can't lick her own bum, they can resort to scooting instead. Extra weight also makes it harder for their anal glands to express. Hopefully, though, you've solved the problem :)

Not sure how to curb aggression by resident cat

I'm not sure it's prudent to keep updating this or if people read it, but I will anyways! Still definite tension on Ori's part, but he's offering olive branches. While Loop was looking out the door today, Ori slooooooooowly crept up and once they made eye contact he flopped over onto his side...

Is it ok to get my indoor-outdoor cats to be indoor-only?

Most of my cats were random strays that now enjoy the cushy indoor life. So, yes, it's totally doable :) Honestly, for two of mine, moving houses (even if it was to an apartment) was actually helpful because they didn't feel the need to go outside to "their territory" since it was new environment.

    I snapped at my cat.

I have to agree with this. I don't understand why, if the cat isn't underweight (which was stated that he is a healthy weight), why you are bending over backwards to try to get more food in him. If he stops eating, just remove the food and offer it again later. Keep kibble out at all times, and...

Not sure how to curb aggression by resident cat

They woke up at the same time because the delivery man showed up and he didn't even care! lmao

Not sure how to curb aggression by resident cat

Another update (sorry! Lol) Laying on the couch with Ori (black cat). Fruit Loop (tabby) climbed up and both are sound asleep. I don't think Ori even woke up. I think I'm probably okay to leave them out free together! If this doesn't show that they're fine I don't know what does. The hissing...

Need Suggestion For Keeping Away The Cats From My Garden!

They have motion activated sprinklers you could put up. Is fencing in the garden an option?

In a panic over what kibble to replace purina with

I've heard stuff about the Purina drama on my FB groups, but I'm also noticing several of the people who are THE most vocal about it all are pushing a newish specific brand of cat food as the alternative, so I'm immediately skeptical of the legitimacy of the claims vs. it being a widespread...

Not sure how to curb aggression by resident cat

Another update! Ori is still being dramatic, but it's improving. He's no longer stalking/attacking. He does not like Loop being near him and will yowl and hiss when he approaches, and then slink sloooooooooowly away (as if he's preparing to be attacked!). I've been putting Fruit Loop away at...

Question about a newly adopted bengal.

If he has learned WHERE his box is and has been using it, it may be okay to let him out again. I would also recommend a litter box in the room he peed/pooped in, with a poo from his other box in it so he gets the picture. If you're worried you oculd put him away at night for now in the bathroom...

    I snapped at my cat.

If he is not underweight, he is not starving, he just doesn't need as much food as you might be thinking. Leave kibble out for him to graze on and offer regular food at mealtimes. If there's no health reason for him not to be eating, he will NOT starve himself if you don't bend over backwards...

Not sure how to curb aggression by resident cat

Update! I think I was just impatient. I brought Fruit Loop out today, and no hissing by Ori. Less hyperfixation as well - He's watching, but he's comfortably loafed on the couch and half asleep, though he perks up when Fruit Loop gets up to wander somewhere or does something. Loop has been a...
