I agree with the gradual move. I would do it a few feet at a time. Kitty will use it as long as you put it in a safe location (for instance not in a high traffic location). If it's only you in the house, then it's not an issue.
We don't do anything special for males at our shelter after neutering. Relax, momma, he will be just fine. Let him run, jump and play. He'll be fine. Licking is the only worry. Don't want to open those stitches!
I am guessing it was not the age of the kitten so much as the basic personality that attributed to it's wonderfulness, however it can be the fact that it was hand raised. You can check with local shelters that take in orphaned kittens and place them into foster care. A foster raised kitten...
I've done it several times. I vacuumn then spray with a bleach solution (test a tiny area first for color fastness) then wipe it so the solution gets into the fibers very well. I then set it in the garage for 2 weeks. If the bleach is not practical use a general pet safe disinfectant (NOT...
Twice now I have had a serious cat bite. The first time was in 2002 when within 12 hours I found myself in the ER on a morphine drip for pain. That stay in the hospital lasted almost a week with surgery to finally drain the infection and a month long recovery.
The second time was yesterday. I...
WOW! 10 babies! You and momma are heros! Each day that passes is one more day to a full healthy life, but you are doing God's work to supplement and help momma out. It's won't be long that that many babies will be sucking her dry. It's important that they all get enough nutrition. I foster...
Coughing could be the result of many things. My Coco coughs often , more in winter with the dry air and we know it's asthma. I would not panic but a vet check is in order just to rule out anything more serious.
Maybe try smearing some baby food (meat and broth only, no veggies added) on top or even fish flakes (Oriental markets). My Lacey Mae used to like grated parmesan cheese sprinkled on top.
Your kitten is doing what kittens do - they play rough and since Big Kitty is the only other cat in the house and not willing to say STOP!, that will be the target. I have seen kittens like this turn into real bullies when they think they can get away with this. Since Big Kitty is the target...
I foster LOTS of kittens each year and I always go by the letter of the alphabet. If this is your first litter for the year go with names that start with A, i.e., Amore', Ally, Arnie, etc....and work through the alphabet. In 2016 I had so many litters, I got up to R. I like this system...
I ordered several Sssscats from Amazon. They are motion detector aerosol spray containers that emit a harmless hissing noise of compressed air. I would order one or two and place them away from human traffic (like facing a wall) but in a location where the cat will cross in front of it. One...
