This is Emerald (short hair) with Sunshine (long hair), who I adopted three years ago at the same time as Emerald (post above). Sunshine was semi-feral and had serious health problems, but today is healthy, happy, and very sweet. She and Emerald had never met, but are great pals.
This is Emerald, who was rescued by a shelter when she had six newborns and weighed only 4.5 pounds. She had serious health problems, and was not well socialized. I adopted her three years ago. Today, she is healthy, weighs almost 13 pounds, and couldn't be sweeter or more snuggly.
I've used MIrataz on two cats who were very ill, and I'm certain from experience with many cats that using Mirataz extended their lives by several years. My current cat gets Mirataz every three to seven days (half dose), and that keeps her appetite going. My vet has not been able to determine...
I forgot to mention that at the vet where I go, they've only tried Solensia with three cats, with mine being the third. So there's not much data to go by at this vet. I need to find out how the other two are doing. From what I've read, there are some cats where improvement is not seen, but...
For a couple of days after the initial playing, I didn't see a lot, but this evening she has played for the last half hour like a 3-month old kitten. She also has been playing with my other cat for the first time in a long time. She's a senior cat and I had accepted her slowness as just aging...
Regarding constipation, I use Lactulose daily for my cat (not expensive at all). It has completely resolved the problem, but she must be given it every day or the problem will return. As for arthritis, the medication of choice now is definitely Solensia. My arthritic cat received her first...
Please see my post about Solensia. I'm excited about it. At last there is a practical pain med for feline OA. Whether it will help him at his very advanced age remains to be seen. I'll post updates.
I took my kitty to the vet this morning. She said the bowing is occurring because of pain in his foot. When he first started walking around this morning, there was no bowing, but then it started up again.
Regarding Solensia, my vet let me know about it first thing. So he received an...
My 22 year old cat, who has been arthritic for several years, today started having one of his front legs bowed outward. I was startled when I saw it as he was standing at his food bowl, and also as he walked across the room. My vet has always felt of something unusual like this to see if the...
Thanks to everyone for the replies. Regarding stomatitis, I've had three kitties with that terrible disease. With two of them, all teeth were extracted, which helped a lot, but didn't totally resolve it. The third cat had a milder case, fortunately.
Thus far, the vet has looked at her teeth without anesthesia, but sees enough to know that my cat will need x-rays (under anesthesia) to determine specifics. The procedure(s) will be done at that time. So only one anesthesia total. They will of course do pre-op bloodwork, which is normal...
My cat will soon have a dental procedure to look into the probable need for an extraction or extractions. A previous vet (years ago) mentioned that sometimes the cat's jaw is inadvertently fractured during the extraction procedure. Has this happened to anyone's cat? If so, how was your cat...
