    The Truth About Ferals

Amazing to see a thread from nearly 2 yrs ago resurrected. Let me update some people on these cats. Xerox lives full time with the woman who was upstairs. Mona and Henry, who weren't part of this thread but were part of other threads I posted, still live with my sister. They are now around 2...

    I messed it up...

She obviously went out the window, but I wasn't sure at first since she ate none of the treats I put on the path between where she was and the window, and the very dirty window had no paw prints or any sign of motion!!! We saw her outside the next day, so we knew for sure. She seems OK, but we...

Xerox, Junior, and Mason (good news)

Thanks for the kind words, Janet. I no longer feel like "we're doing this." It's turned out to be a wonderful thing. Junior gets her medicine and is getting better, my husband gets Mason, the 2 original cats are playing with the 2 new cats and licking heads, and the pup is excited about it...

Xerox, Junior, and Mason (good news)

I know this isn't common, but our dog LOVES cats, and always has. She was born in a private home, not a puppy mill or store, and they had 2 all white deaf cats. When you said "cat" to my dog the first year of her life, she looked UP, like the cat is the animal 'up there.' The day we met our...

    I messed it up...

We went another route. I opened a window in the basement and took out the screen. I built up steps to get to it. And I showed it to her over and over. I pushed her out of her hiding place a little, and I put tuna flakes on the path to freedom. It's hours later, and I just searched the...

    I messed it up...

I just brought home Little Cat from her spaying. To make a long story short, I didn't work the raccoon trap right, and Little Cat is NOT in the recovery cage as planned. She is running around our basement, looking for a way to get out. She's the least friendly, so I can barely get near her...

Xerox, Junior, and Mason (good news)

We overdid it at 3 cats, and are completely wacky at 4 cats. Little Cat is completely unfriendly, never been touched, and more than that, we don't have the room. Plus we're getting a few "behaviour" problems with our jealous dog. Next animal should be a pup playmate for her.

Xerox, Junior, and Mason (good news)

Yes they sure have made themselves at home. Junior has been nearly everywhere, and Mason has been absolutely everywhere, including places I didn't think possible. We have this fountain which is a large carved rock art piece. He climbed up onto it, and I have a pic of him sitting on top of it...

Xerox, Junior, and Mason (good news)

Hi other Deb. Things are going EXCELLENTLY here. By now, everybody is pretty much friends with everybody else. The only exceptions are sometimes our dog gets too excited about Junior and rushes her. Junior hisses, tends to lose her balance, and runs away. We also still get a bit of static...

Xerox, Junior, and Mason (good news)

I told my neighbour she was a saint. She took in Junior when we thought Junior was untouchable. She ended up spending NO time in the cage, and just lived as a house cat and had LOTS of fun. Now, we can touch her, though we have to make sure first that she sees us coming and recognises us...

Xerox, Junior, and Mason (good news)

Here are some pics - sorry for download times for people dialing up. Mason, sitting up tall, where the basement stairs meet the main floor. Mason smiling when I give him a rub. I have big hands for a woman, so his head is easily grapefruit-sized. This is Junior cat. You can see her bad...

Xerox, Junior, and Mason (good news)

For those of you following my feral world, we recently had Xerox and Junior spayed and Mason neutered. It turned out that Junior, who has poor vision, sight, and if you ask me smell too, also had a very advanced middle ear infection. So she is on Clavamox, and while recovering stayed with the...

    The Truth About Ferals

I'm just about to post a new topic about how we took in some of our feral family. They were never hurt or abused. We've known them since birth. They were just wild and nobody's, but they stayed on our property because we gave them food, water, and shelter, and to the friendly ones, rubs and...

    Q's about feral spay recovery

I should mention that Junior is now 1.5 years old in case I didn't mention that before. So this pic of her is from last winter a year ago when we actually had snow here. She was born in June 2000, and was the runt of Little Cat's first litter. Junior is an interesting cat. On 25 June 2001...

    Q's about feral spay recovery

My husband trapped Junior in a raccoon trap, so he gets the credit. He said seconds after he set it up, Xerox walked right back in and got trapped. She is too silly!!! The vet said Junior was in heat, which explains all the males hanging around our place, but now she's spayed. We did get...
