Hi, I've got a 5 year cat who has had around 8 litters (two per year max after the age of one). The last litter she had she lost during pregnancy (around October) and hasn't been in season since. She has 'silent heats' which makes it difficult to tell when she's in heat so we usually know when she starts spraying as she's very friendly anyway. I have taken her to her stud the past two times when I've thought she may be in heat but to no avail - he's not interested in her although they have had a successful litter together previously. I also have another un-neutered male (her son who is 10 months old) in the house who is interested in my other female un-neutered cat (unrelated) but not her. The last time I took her to the stud (last weekend) was because she started peeing in my room but like I say, the stud wasn't interested in her. I've taken Hazel to the vet who has scanned her and ruled out closed pyometra but has given us some meds for a UTI. Other than that she's stumped as to why she hasn't bred again and has suggested I get advice from other breeders on a forum...so here I am...any ideas??

I shall think on it... What you always can do, is to give her extra E-vitamine. This often helps with heat and fertility.
Hey, you can give some nice all round vitamine paste too... Cant hurt, may help... But this with E-vitamine is most important.

But yeah, its interesting the males arent interested in her... Its alike she doesnt give of herself the typical heat feromones...
Perhaps rub her with some secret from another female in heat?? Shortly before a visit to the stud.

Also, be sure she is in excellent condition... Which aside of good nourishing food, with lotsa of calcium and rather high fat content; goats milk is a nice supplement; ----- you let her rest a year from new pregnancies...

Otherwise, 8 litters is quite much... In Sweden it would be seen as maximum, and high time to retire her.
So its another reason for letting her take a free year. ("sabbathical leave year - as they say about scholars")

She’s a Russian Blue
So are my boys; 3 of my 4 residents were working studs.
(hire swords; so we were into the breeding world, but not self an active breeder). Ours were / are of the scandinavian RB type. Nowadays the american type becomes more popular in Sweden too...
