I received a crown at the dentist yesterday. I do not feel like royalty. I do empathize with Betty. My gums are still swollen and sore from a more than average number of shots needed to numb me. 🤦🏼‍♂️😿

I did get to keep my arm fur and I did not pee myself. Though if it took any longer, no promises. 😹

Yeah, oral surgery is no fun. I've got a crown myself, so I know.
Hoping you feel better very soon. You've got the very best nurse, I see. :hearthrob: :lovecat3::hearthrob::agree:

Thankfully they were able to make the crown in house. That meant I was sitting in the chair a bit longer. There was about a 20-30 minute intermission. But I left with the permanent crown in one visit rather than two. I seem to have a high point. But I may end up grinding it down in my sleep anyway. 🤦🏼‍♂️ I’m in no rush to return to the chair. And anyway, I’m back there next month for another cleaning. 🤦🏼‍♂️I would like one month this year that neither me nor Betty are going to the dentist or the doctor. That’s not going to be April. But maybe May. 🤞

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do and it sounds like you're as much of an adherent of good oral hygiene as I am. Health starts in the mouth. I have a high point, too, and I still sometimes hit on it, to my chagrin. But it's on the other side. The crown is good. I don't remember if it was one appt. or two, but fortunately my dentist is excellent and once they put it in, all was well. So you have TMJ? You can get a guard for that, if you choose....I haven't and I'm sure that as angsty as I am, I probably grind, too. A friend of mine had one and it caused her no end of problems.
Yeah, if it ain't one thing it's another, all through life. :sigh: Hoping you AND Betty receive comfort and have good health as a result of all this stuff you have to go through, though.

Not TMJ. No clicking, popping, earaches, or headaches. Just a nocturnal grinder. I'm not even really sure I am. The only one who has ever told me is my brother who has historically razzed me for just about anything--not a reliable source. I don't think I could sleep with a guard. To be honest, my dental hygiene routines have only solidified in the last few years. I would brush in the morning but my nighttime routine was irregular. The amount I had been spending in recent years on dental work and the number of times in the chair was enough motivation to finally start working on doing the don't-wannas. The pandemic has been a perfect workshop for it. Without the daily rigors of commuting, my mornings and evenings have become much more consistent. I refer to them when speaking with Betty as, "gotta put in the morning teeth, and I'll meet you for breakfast", or, "gotta put in the nighttime teeth, and I'll meet you in bed." 😁😸

Good on ya for due diligence. I was so fortunate that my dad started taking me to his dentist, who was amazing, when I was a kid. My dad kept all his own teeth. I aim to do the same, with probably a lifetime supply of floss and interdental brushes, and always a good Oral-B electric toothbrush. First thing in the morning and last thing at night, the latter starts buzzing away. I've got a wonky jaw that does click. But all in all, doing okay, according to the hygienist who cleans them twice a year. It's so important to keep the mouth clean! I'm obsessive about it.

It's not OUR fault they have such irresistably adorable faces, now is it? :insertevillaugh: I like to muzzle cats=put my thumb and index finger on either side of nose and mouth, on whisker pads. And then there are all the ear tricks=bunny (ears upstanding) and Scottish fold (ears gently pressed down) and human (ears hidden) and so on. They put up with so much from us, for their barely adequate care ;)

I fed and gave Betty her morning meds at 4am this morning. Or at least that's what the only two clocks that don't automatically change read this morning. Ironically, they are both in the kitchen where I spent so much time prepping those meds and breakfast this morning. It was only after I cleaned up, my eyes caught the microwave clock. Wha?!? Then my phone. Then the oven. Oh. Yeah. This nonsense again. Betty got lunch at 11:30 according to the stove or 12:30 according to everyone else. I'm not sure what to do about evening meds. On the one paw, I don't like asking her to go more than twelve hours between meds. On the other, her steroids dose should be a fairly consistent time each night. I think we'll split the difference and aim for 4:30 pm stove time or 5:30 pm daylight saving nonsense so that we get pretty close to her normal steroids time (5pm stove/5 pm pacific daylight.) And by tomorrow, I'm going to have stove and microwave changed and we'll all be on this new schedule until November.

Morning weigh-in: 10.80 lbs! Hey, it's been a cold, wet depressing week. Because of my crown, I have been eating more mac and cheese. And ice cream. And other junky soft foods. I've probably been a little more sympathetic and liberal with the cake frosting (her A/D) on her food this week. My weigh-in yesterday didn't go so well either. We both added some comfort fluff this week. 🤦‍♂️

It's normal for just about everyone in cold climates/weather to gain some. It's not worth guilting over. And--for Betty, I'm sayin'--it's not a big deal. ;)
PDT is a huge turnoff for me. I have clocks that need manual attention, so I usually do all of those the day before. That way I don't have to panic or make any mistakes with anything time-sensitive. Got an extra hour of sleep last night. Usually I would use that hour to work but these days, I'd rather be unconscious.

I think we lose an hour of sleep. Because my 5am alarm woke me at 4am this morning. According to the stove and the microwave. And just about everywhere that isn’t the US. I like DST. I like the longer days. And often the weather seems to change with the clocks making me dislike the return to standard time a lot more than going on to saving time.

True! I'm a nightowl that's forced myself to get up at 7 and go to bed at 11. I prefer cold and rain and snow. But I guess whatever we get, we should be glad of and make the best of, yeah?

Having a reliable lap cat means you will eventually have a lap cat napkin. A squirrelly sauce cup from takeout squirted a small splash of "Sweet Heat" onto Betty's back. I did the most cat dad thing you can think of. I grabbed a french fry and got the lion's share (so to speak) off of her. Then I took a napkin and some condensation off my beer mug to get the rest. And finally, I took some more sweat off the beer mug, applied it to her former sauce spot, took my hand to my mouth to see if she tasted like sweet heat. Mostly satisfied, I took some spit covered fingers back to her coat, and back to my mouth once more. Well, there we go. We've reached that point in our relationship where I'm grooming her. 👅😽🤦‍♂️ My little Garfield was probably well into her dinner gabapentin dose. She didn't notice a thing and was purring the whole time. 😸

*And it wasn't even Taco Tuesday!*:crackup:Hopefully Betty didn't get a fiery surprise when she groomed the area.
Oh, I inadvertently drop stuff on my cat from time to time. It gets scooped up, with the same result. It's dry stuff, though, like a cookie crumb or something like that.
Meanwhile, I've just returned from the store with all kinds of goodies. Including a first-time treat I'm about an hour away from indulging in. Western Bagel EVERYTHING Bagels. :woohoo:😋👁👁🥯
