Like this silliness! 😹

She just decided to lay down on my hand. I’m not sure what she’s getting out of it. My fingers don’t curl back far enough for scritches. And anyway, the hand is losing circulation. I think she just wants to prevent me from going back to work. 🤦🏼‍♂️😽

This may be Betty's version of Elvis' using my left wrist/arm as a chin rest. I'm glad it's the left, because if it was the right, I wouldn't be able to get anything done.
Yeah, natural is best if possible.

I’m not opposed to giving Solensia to her. But she’s only six. I don’t think either one of us want to be doing monthly vet visits for the next eight, ten years, or hopefully longer. 🤞 I’d like to try alternatives first. Especially because I spent so much money on her mouth last month that I had to put my own mouth off a month and then I have taxes and it just never ends. I need to trim subscriptions. Not add new ones. There are also other things we can do for her joints besides the shots and nutraceuticals like getting her on a better food, losing some weight, getting her more active, and I know she would love a heat pad. She enjoys the radiators. Both of them.

I think so too, on all of the above. What's the yellow-green cylindrical textured thing?

Oh that's something to roll your muscle knots over if you want to feel a pain like none other. 🤦‍♂️ I suppose it wouldn't be so painful if there weren't knots to roll out. 🤔

*Ya think???*:disturbed:
AI follies, part ???: My phone provider texts me, saying my invoice has been returned. I go on the site. I'm not in arrears, and my bill was autopaid a couple of days ago. The chatbot can't handle my request to correct this, so I have to deal with the dreaded phone call. I get the same sweet airhead I think I've gotten before when I've had to call about OTHER texts they've sent in error. LONNNNNNNNNNG time later, she says she's corrected it and will text me to confirm.
WHAT do you think the text says?
RIGHT. :fireblob:

I’m old enough to remember actual human telephone operators who could help you find a phone number. They were always NICE, and you could chat about the weather, their lives, etc. The impersonalization (and ineptitude) caused by technology has been astonishing. Chat boxes seem designed know as little as possible. At least with Apple, who kinda started all this, you get excellent hold music.

Me too. I still get some very good customer service humans from time to time, who are professional, courteous, AND personable.
When these entities are billing you/me/someone or dealing with money, it gets pretty personal. Because it's important.

Betty left half of breakfast again. What's up, girl?

She heard the sink running at lunch while I washed her breakfast plates (and mine) and got her lunch ready. Well that woke her from her poof nap (like I hoped) and I got her to take an extra gabapentin both for possible pain and also just extra chill for later. I will definitely be discussing her recent fussiness lately. I will also be discussing her gabapentin dose and dosing schedule. The prescription says to give every 8 to 12 hours. I have been giving it every 12. Perhaps I should simply get her on an every 8. That would mean she gets a 5am, noon, and 9 pm dose. This also makes it that much harder for me to leave her with a sitter. I'm starting to think I'll never be able to travel again because she will be too inconvenient or expensive for a sitter. That or she's going to have to learn to travel with me. I was really hoping the dental would solve her eating issues. But it seems they got a little worse.

There's one other possibility. Maybe there's something about these cases she doesn't like. These came from one VCA. I have been waiting for today's appointment to pick up new cases from the other VCA. I can't tell the difference though. These look about as good as every other I've been serving her.

I'm in the limbo where I've essentially signed off of work for the day, but it's still too soon for me to get ready for the vet. I'm letting Betty snooze as long as she can before she starts to get suspicious of my getting ready activities.

OR, she's just settling into her own new normal post-teeth-issues. Cats ARE very sensitive, you know *making them excellent companions for non-NT people.* ;) Hoping the food is all okay.
When will you be able to have these discussions? Today?
Just got home from my dental (cleaning). Elvis is glad. I am glad. The hygienist is good, and very chatty. The office personnel are like $%!^house rats. Always glad to get away from them!

Ugh! I was showering up and getting ready to collect Betty. There's a missed call and a voicemail. Don't even.... 🤬

Not cancelled, but they did push the appointment back 45 minutes. And now I'm dressed, ready to go, and have 45 more minutes to kill. I'm thinking about removing her food soon so she doesn't have a full stomach right before her exam. I also wish she would have peed by now. But she went twice last night. So she's probably good until the drive home. 🤦‍♂️😹 In rush hour traffic....

Well shoot! I was just thinking I should pick up her plate and she beat me to it. So lunch is in the books. I think we simply need to revisit her gabapentin and I don’t know. Do we schedule a dentist consult now? I can’t afford that so soon after her recent dental and I got word back from my insurance that my own crown procedure is not going to be covered. I don’t know if it’s a deductible issue or what. I know my dentist is out of network. But last I checked, the benefits weren’t that much different between in network and out of network. Dental insurance just sucks. It doesn’t cover enough and it seems like they haven’t updated their price charts in decades. I don’t think my dental coverage has meaningfully changed since I first had it 20 some years ago.

OH ____!
Well, Ms. Betty did good by finishing her lunch. Hoping the 45 min. passes quickly. Has already passed, actually, so you should be getting (hopefully good) news/service.
Oh, tell me about dental insurance! I've been going to my dentist since moving here. They don't take HMOs, which I have. I get 2 cleanings a year covered by it, but I'm hesitant to go to someone I don't know. VERY hesitant. I only ever get cleanings, but they upped the charge by $25. Oh well.
Crowns? UGH. I have one but fortunately it was covered. They aren't cheap. Did you get it already, or are you getting it? If the latter, I guess you just have to deal with it as one of life's (expensive) necessities. IMHO oral health is the key to all health and I'm absolutely insistent on it.
*Prayers* and best wishes for you both.

Ugh! Better their cat than mine. But still. She’s paying for it. Dr found yet another tooth that needed to be extracted in her prior appointment and will be available only to look at Betty’s extraction sites and touch bases with me later. 🤦🏼‍♂️ So I’ll probably get none of my questions answered today.

Maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised. It does happen sometimes. Still.

At least it was no charge and I came home with two new cases of I/D to see if there’s a batch difference between the two VCA’s. It also felt so weird not giving her a gabapentin with dinner. But she had one at lunch. I don’t want to overmedicate her. I’m also hoping that maybe her eating will be less dodgy if we just keep her on an 8 hour schedule. She can have her next one at 9 pm (yeah. That’s not quite eight hours. But if she takes it at nine, that is eight hours until breakfast. Her breakfast needs shoring up now. Her lunch and dinner seems okay since she gets the lunchtime dose. I don’t need her to finish overnight. That’s more a convenience than a requirement for her.

I went w/ someone to Los Algodones Mexico once. Dental there is great, incredibly cheap, and there are so many gringos going there they don’t even really seem to care about your passport! Great painkillers, a central place where you can rest and drink margaritas & eat soft food or even stay the night. It’s either that or floss a lot, b/c who can afford dental? I don’t know about cheap pet sitters…maybe Betty would like a tiny mariachi hat!

My passport expired during Covid and they weren't doing renewals for a long time. 🤦‍♂️ Now I don't want even want to get on a plane or put my travel plans in the hands of "air Karens" who ground planes while railing against big government and their mask mandates.

And then there's this:
Air Canada sent a passenger's cats from Toronto to San Francisco without him – and then told him to go collect them

Airlines still don't have their 💩 together after Covid. I mean it was a tenuous grip before Covid. But total blowout since!

Felt so weird not to give her a gabapentin at dinner. She’s also been acting a little weird since we got home. I’m sure it’s just stress from the vet visit. She was awfully needy. I’m sure I’m also hyper aware because I’m nervous about changing her meds. But she’s licking her lips in that way that can mean hunger, nausea, pain, stress, or…. 🤦🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️ If her sutures haven’t dissolved, that could be another reason why she may be licking her lips. Or eating less. Questions for the doc whenever I do get her ear again.

She left my lap for second pass on dinner. But she stopped after a couple bites. I don’t know if that was pain or she doesn’t like this case or stress or Republican heckling of the POTUS or…. I decided to split the difference and give her her gabapentin at 7. I also smeared a little A/D into the remainder to get a few more bites. I did get a few more bites. So now I expect her to be covered when overnight goes down. I’m going to split a 100 three ways and give her that little bit extra tomorrow morning (33 vs 25 mg.)
