After a friend told me about her good experiences with a national company that runs a mobile vet service, I have made an appointment for a vet to come and do general health checks on my 4 cats. They have no acute health problems at the moment, but, because of COVID-19, I have not been taking any of them to the vet, except for emergency treatment. The same vet will be visiting me, who visited my friend, so I don't feel too nervous on that score.

I will make three working surfaces suitable for examinations and for taking blood so that the vet can decide where she would prefer to work. I will also try to put the 2 most unfriendly cats in carriers before she comes! I know I will be expected to hold the cats during any examination but I am used to that. I am also not worried if she only manages to examine 3 cats - at least I'll know where I stand regarding the health of some cats and hopefully have reduced the number of vet visits in the immediate future.
My only problem at the moment, is that all documents, information, lab-data, invoices etc. will only be available in an app on a smart phone. I much prefer reading documents on my computer! (Poor eyesight - the screen on my phone is so small). But, I'll no doubt manage.

I'll keep you informed.

Do you know the laundry net trick? Put the cat in an extra large zip-up laundry net before the vet examines them. Less chance of the cat being able to wriggle free or scratch and the cats feel safer because they're partially hidden and you can hold them too.

Our vet has drawn blood, given injections and sub-q fluids without having to take the cat out of the net. Very handy with my more feral ones.

I prefer the desktop too! Will the app let you save the documents to your phone? If it will (or, at least it should), you ought to be able to able to email the docs to yourself and access the email from your computer - and even save the docs in a file there.

It would be better to have all the docs and reports on a cloud drive too. So that you can access them from anywhere in the world, with any device.
I have mine on Google Drive (bt there are many similar services), so I can access them from my phone, my PC, both home at at work, or elsewhere, anytime. Provided you have a connection.

Thank you all for your input! Today I got the message (by e-mail and telephone) that my appointment has been cancelled, the vet is sick. I can make a new appointment but I will wait till I know what is going on in my house next week. I have no wish to be helping the vet when my son-in-law is drilling holes, repairing cars or, when I'm alone and the doorbell keeps ringing.
I'll keep you informed.

Do you have a printer? I would print out the reports; keeping them in a folder.
That's what I'll probably do - though I would like to be able to reduce the amount of paper I use.

I think my cats will get their claws through my laundry nets - but perhaps I'll find some which are more stable.

That's my way of solving the problem - it just seems rather a round-about way of doing things, but at least it works - most of the time!.

The Cloud Drive on my phone is always asking me to raise my subscription - I am too old to learn new tricks and am trying to keep things to myself where I can see them and know what I am paying for!

I don't think I'm allowed to name Cloud Services here, but the vast majority of them are free to use, no subscription apart from your free account.
The one I mentioned is one, for instance. I have years of blood works reports and other documents for my cats, even those who aren't with me anymore, on the same cloud.
