If he's eating, do you think his pills could be hidden in food?
He is eating...except for yesterday when he wasn't doing so well...
The antibiotics dissolve in wet food, which is what my husband was doing, but I don't like taking a chance that they won't get all the meds in their system. For example, yesterday, he didn't finish his meal so he didn't get all the antibiotic...
And if they are too bitter, I hate the thought that they will develop an aversion to the food if they don't like their first few experiences with it. If we need him to be on the prescription food...we need to make sure he'll like it.

Elvis's mother also died of heart failure. I wonder if there was some genetic component.
It certainly sounds like it's genetic! Unless maybe drug use wore out their hearts? I know both Lisa & Elvis had drug problems. I suppose it takes a toll on the heart.

Yes, the family has a history of heart attacks, but also substance abuse, which is a deadly combination.
Idk if Mama Presley was a drug user. I bet if there was already a problem, drug use made it worse. I hope Lisa Marie's daughter is taking good care of her health.

....

I'm having a bad day and so grumpy. Yesterday J was up too early and then I tripped on one of her toys and mostly landed on my elbow but must have wrenched my hip because that's been hurting since yesterday. I stayed up too late last night and then J was up at 3am-ish this morning and it took her an hour or so to fall back asleep. My one size fleece lined maternity leggings are too small because I'm too fat, and the new ankle boots I bought keep rubbing against my left heel, probably because my calves are too fat. J doesn't listen to anything and I spilled coffee on myself after church.

I just feel so done and it's not even noon yet.

Well...I've encountered my first cat ever that WOULD NOT take his meds! Thankfully the flushing seemed to work well. He's in much better spirits and the frequent trips to the box have reduced. He has peed a couple times, and they are an OK size...still small, but OK. There's also still blood, but I'm thinking it's normal after all the irritation yesterday. We'll be monitoring him for the next 24 hours and first thing tomorrow morning we'll bring him to our vet...hopefully they will see him right away, and hopefully he can get the antibiotic shot. We just can't get him to take any meds anymore...not even with all the tricks. I've already e-mailed them to give them an update, I know they read e-mails after hours even they don't necessarily respond.
Of course hubby didn't sleep that great last night, and if he stays again at his shop, he probably won't sleep great tonight either...I'm pooped too from all the running around and I'm still recovering from some other stuff from before all this happened...

I think the loss of her son in 2020 had a huge impact on her health. Broken heart syndrome is real. I hope she's at peace with her son and father. Priscilla is the one that is going to really need extra TLC. She and Lisa Marie were so close. What happened to Debbie Reynolds after Carrie Fisher passed is a real possibility for her but I hope it doesn't end that way. Allegedly there is a custody battle in the works for Lisa Marie's twin daughters. They are 14. Thankfully they have a strong support system.

Awww man! That doesn't sound good. Hope you and baby #2 are okay.

No, don't spill the coffee!!! Now that would be a tragedy for me for sure. ☕
Baby is perfectly fine based on how active she's been. I didn't hit my stomach at all.

My husband watched J so I could lie down for an hour. I don't think I truly slept, but I dozed, and that did help.

Seymour had a few little pees but also had one really good one. Hubby said it was the size of about 2 "timbits"....dumb reference, but that's what he said. Maybe he was hungry when he checked. lol!
He's been at the shop all day except for when he came home for dinner and may spend the night again.
He's tired, I'm exhausted and just hoping that my work week this week goes smooth.
The MIL called this afternoon and asked if we wanted to go for dinner on Saturday...I really don't want to go. I was looking forward to a weekend with no commitments and no plans where I could just chill and get some stuff worked on that I've been pushing aside. I even made a bigger grocery shop this weekend so I didn't even need to leave the house for that. It feels like I haven't had a day to myself for months and I'm just....done.

Could you just tell MIL that this Saturday won't work for you, and how about next weekend? That feeling of no time to yourself is the worst. :hugs:

It's up to my husband. We didn't say yes yet, it will depend on how Seymour is doing. It sounds like hubby wants to go...or at least feels obligated, but he said he'd let her know by Thursday. Lets just say that the relationship with MIL is.....complicated.

I would schedule a down weekend if possible! No one else needs to know your commitment for the weekend is to yourself. Its good to take care of yourself. I get the complicated relationship part too.

I hope you can get Seymour in quick for a shot. I started with the treats with Noodles because she was both sweet and spicy. And being in heart failure I was too concerned it was risky to be pilling her 3 times a day. Mooch started on daily meds not long after and it just worked so well I never wanted to rock the boat. 😅

What’s on my mind - negative, that I’m dehydrated and not convinced sipping 2L of water a day is going to correct it. Even adding electrolytes isn’t making any difference. What annoys me is that when I saw the doctor about it she just said “You’re dehydrated, drink more water” without even taking into consideration the medications I’m on - one of which she prescribed! - are known to cause dry mouth. Give it two weeks to take effect, she said. Four days to go and it’ll be a miracle if it works.

On the positive side, I went to the optometrist yesterday and found a pair of frames I like much better than my current ones. I’ve a new prescription (my astigmatism is getting worse apparently) for multifocals and one for reading glasses, since people who do a lot of reading and craft work apparently find multifocals unhelpful for that. Got a good price, too, and will collect them in a couple of weeks.

Also positive, just waiting for the new parts to come in so I can take my car to the panel beaters for a new fender.

Dry mouth from meds can be helped with specific mouthwashes/rinses, not sure if you've given them any thought.
As for being dehydrated...
Gorging yourself on water isn't going to do much IF you aren't also encouraging your body to absorb and pump that fluid into your system. If most of your day is spent sitting and only doing minimal movements and you drink a ton and all you end up doing is pee every 30 minutes, all you're doing is making your kidneys work harder. I know so many people who work at a computer all day then they get home and many of their interests and hobbies are "sit down hobbies". They claim to drink at least one of those huge 2L water bottles a day but they're still quite dehydrated and spend too much on toilet paper. To encourage better absorption, be sure to move, and pump your major muscle groups. Also, WHEN you drink can make a difference as well. If you are about to do a more strenuous exercise that will most likely make you sweat, even a small amount...drink BEFORE as well as after. Like if you're going to take a walk, drink something before you go out, then also when you return. If you're a bath or a long hot shower person, drink before you get in and also when you get out...many people don't realize how much they sweat because they are already in water. One of the first things you should do when you get up in the morning is drink a full glass of water...before you do anything else...then get on with getting ready and having your coffee, and whatever else you do in the morning.
Hope this is helpful.

Nothing wrong with letting husband know that you are not feeling quite up to it and he should go alone and have dinner with his mom. Good bonding time for them and freedom for you.

DS tends to want to be lazy in the morning and then when its time for school he suddenly wants breakfast. I don’t really blame him because I’m not a morning person either. But this is life kid!

So today I found a yodeling compilation on YouTube and turned that on. Loud. He was up getting his breakfast half way through the first song.

Now if I’m singing the songs later….oh well. I get annoying music in my head without hearing it recently anyway.

I might be a little crankier than usual. We got new mattresses and mine does not feel like the one I laid on in the store. DH may like it more than me. He said his feels way harder too. (We got two twin xl ones to replace our king because we have such different preferences.) The first night I slept good but today I woke up hurting and crampy. Pass the chocolate with the coffee.:rolleyes2:

Store mattresses are very well broken in by everyone who lays on it. What I have heard Is supposed to break them in is standing up and walking all over the mattress.

Thank you, yes! None of it mentioned by that doctor, either ... I have read up about the mouth washes, they were the next thing I was going to look at. I am a very sedentary person, being full time carer for my mother in a tiny unit means very little movement, much less than when I had a job. I don’t glug water, just sip it frequently. I’m not at the loo much more often but am producing more, so on that score it’s good.

Maybe I can have DD try that for me. I was concerned about it but the first night I was sleeping pretty good when DH woke me up for church. And I had a good nap yesterday.

Mattress shopping in always so awkward to me. Some sales person watching you lay down on beds. I managed it pregnant once. Of course DS had no issues with it and our stop was unplanned so he ended up playing games on my phone in a corner after he used my data watching a movie.:rolleyes2:

Mattresses just don’t seem to be lasting as long and that’s annoying too.:sigh:
