From what I'm seeing in blogs written by veterinary clinics, they (mites) are in the environment, one of which could be unsanitary vet offices :(

My 18 year old cat cries/meows most of the night, has lost weight, aggressive towards other cats I have, vomits and lost weight. The vet thought for sure she had hyperthyroid but all her lab work came back fairly normal, tho her thyroid is on the higher side of normal. We opted to put her on thyroid food and I follow up next week for more blood work. She has stopped vomitting but aside from that I can’t say the other things have stopped

my vet did recommend night lights as well.

aftr the fleas! ichnged vets(twice) to get someone who has cats. all was good for a while. but then we had a grooming issue after her diabetes and neuropathy scare. so i have been cautious since. i had to go back to all cat prac for solensia. but the mites had me anxious. i requested that we not be kept in waiting room and that exam room be cleaned thoroughly. they oblliged me. i was thankful. but clearly it is not enuf. btwn shots i went back to other vet and he was shocked she had mites.i thought the med worked. so i was surprised myself. the vet tech said they now had solensia. . but placide had been vomiting and not eating much. so he examined, did some blood work and gave her an iv. but he pushed the fluids in her and she was crying and i objected to him pushing it in he said it gets it in faster and i got annoyed. the 3rd black mark! she was not dying but it was a friday his laast appt and he prob wanted to go home. but i have a prob with anyone hurting her when it can be avoided. it is the very reason i dont leave her alone at a vets offc with anyone. i have caught things were not necessary. it is the wild west out there and my observations are that cats do not get the same respect as dogs and that most dont even understand cats. amen

my heart breaks for u both. i know it is a challenge. what do u think? does she stop when u pick her up and hold her? is she gaining weight? i can say that the increas in gabapentin to 50 mg at night has seemed to help. sitting with my cat when she eats helps cause she will eat more. just so u know, gabapentin is a neurological drug.more and more i am thinking it is age. and that we have to accept it. i am old too and i know things deteriorate. i am sympathetic.;) please keep me posted how yall doing and if u have found anything that helps. last night i askd for help fr a higher power. i am at my wits end. and so far, today is better

Not much makes her stop. She wakes me up several times a night. She sleeps on the bed with me but she will just get up and wander around the house sounding like she’s an alarm system. It’s frustrating that it’s more and more often because I’m only getting a few hours of sleep a night. I bring her to the vet again next week and I’m going to talk to her about it again

I'm so glad to hear this! 💓🌹
prayers answered? gabapentin working? the days and nites since the gabapentin increase have been wonderful. she still does the 3am-4am wake up for food? but it is a regular meow! i get up fed her and i can go back to sleep. i also notice that when she tries to bite me legs i can give her a firm NO and she stops! she is also eating better. she eats more and well! a can a day. i still have to stay with her while she eats but i can tell she is hungry and enjoying th food(rx duck pate RC) she is even walking better. now i am thinking she was in some pain all that time. i am glad i was persistent. i am so happy that she is better Bless her little heart. what a battle but i have always said she has the heart of a lion. there is peace in the valley again! thnx for all the support! :worship::thanks:

Oh my goodness :bday: 🌹❤🌹
EXCITING NEWS! CHRISTMAS MIRACLE! yesterday Placide had her 6 mo check up at animal hospital. complete blood panel, thyroid, and ultrasound! 3 hrs later, her long time onco called me into a room and said "i can only tell you it is a Christmas Miracle" i looked at her confused and she informed me that Placide no longer has FGESF! the paper work says "no evidence of colonic mass is noted. resolved urinary bladder and gall bladder debris. resolved left renal peri-diverticular mineralization. THE GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT IS NORMAL IN THICKNESS WITH NORMAL WALL LAYERING THROUGHOUT". my little girl is back to normal! onco said it just disappeared! it has been a tough 6 yrs but i always have said she has the face of an angel and the heart of a lion! she gave me the best present ever! and at her age, she overcame all the obstacles. medical history! onco wants to take her completely off steroid but will wait til after holidays! she is on 2.5 of prednilisone ev other day! thanks to all who supported me during a difficult time. miracles do happen! prayers do help! TLC is important! i am over the moon with joy! i hope i can exhale now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cheerleader::loveeyes:

Oh my gosh I'm stunned😯!!!
u should have seen her onco! i am still trying to accept it! 6 yrs is a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng time. and no record of any survivors! and her age! i can only attribute it to extraordinary care by her onco and my insistence that she not be stressed EVER!:alright: i cand hear myself saying to vet techs "she has been thru enuf. dont upset her anymore than she has to be":headshake:
and i would change vets AGAIN! in the end it was the right thing to do. the once constant was/is her onco. she helped us so very much. i am forever grateful
