Hello,
I was wondering if anyone's had experience with mixing Miralax with cat food, specially pate style cat food in this case. I've been giving my kitty miralax prior with water in a syringe but I've slowly been attempting to give miralax mixed in with his wet food instead.
But I was wondering what is the best way to go about this? Currently what I've been doing is taking 1/8 tsp of miralax and mixing with some water before adding to his wet food and then applying some of that wet food on top. But I've seen threads on here saying it should be mixed instead and I've also seen some threads where people simply mix the miralax with the wet food and no water is added and it performs successfully.
If someone could provide me with a video or a step by step guide on how to best mix miralax with wet food, with pictures provided, that would be so kind, thank you.
Note - the wet food I'm using has a 80% water content [40% because I cut it in half before giving it to my cat].

This is an appropriate method.
I don't have photos, but here's what I did;

In a little jar or cup I'd put the 1/ 8 tsp powder, add a little water and stir that until the powder is completely dissolved.
Then I add that to his food, and mix it all together.

You cut the quantity of of food in half?

Hello, thank you for the reply, yes your method sounds similar to what I do. I'm just hoping that I'll do it correctly and it works for him [I'm very nervous lol].
As for cutting his food in half, I have to do this because he won't eat all of it otherwise. And I give the other half to another cat in the house, it's also one of the reasons why I used to give him Miralax by syringe because he was very inconsistent with eating all of his wet food but he's gotten better at eating most of his wet food now though a little bit of it still remains near the sides 😅

Good for you for working things out with them :)!

Is he pooping normally now? You can increase and decrease the dosage, give it twice a day, depending on what works best for his digestive system.

I've been giving him 1/8th tsp every 12 hrs, sometimes upping it to 1/4th if he hasn't gone in a while. But he seems to be going almost consistently with the current 1/8th every 12 hr routine [he goes once every 2 days] and he'll typically have either big bulky stools or smaller ones but a lot at once.

I use Miralax daily for a 5 year old cat. It sounds as if you are doing fine; the only caution with it is to never give it in its dry form; i.e. don't put it in a gelatin capsule and administer it that way. It does have to dissolve one way or another. I have found that in a very watery treat like Hartz Delectables, it dissolves easily.
