I finally got my dollhouse that my grandpa made me when I was a kid home from my moms house last weekend. And now I’m sitting here resisting the urge to start looking for parts online to repair it. I do NOT need a project but man what a fun distraction…

I started looking the other day and oh my goodness there is SO much out there. I even found another pint toile wallpaper for the bathroom in it. I need to compare with what’s in there. The wallpaper is very faded from sitting by a window for a few years. 😣

I remember you talking about that dollhouse a while back :heartshape:

I discovered the incredible world of miniatures when I went looking for a way to shade my marimo balls from direct sunlight

I gave my dollhouse my mom gave me (I don’t have kids) when I grew up to a local family that needed toys…such a joyful moment to see the kids’ eyes light up, and immediately start playing w/ it. I am glad you are reunited with yours. I remember my mom making it…I owe any confidence I have with tools to her…

My grandma made doll houses and figures to go in it. They were given away except the figures. My mom tried to make one but never finished. Nieces are too old now to be interested

I’m still looking for the furniture and accessories. I know I packed them in a small plastic storage box; so it should be somewhere at moms or possibly in my own attic. Some furniture was also made by my Grandpa and Gram made the curtains and linens. The plug for the electric is in there too.

Finding all that would probably save us a lot of money because some stuff is just TOO cute!! I was hoping to decorate it for Christmas because I had little lights and a tree and things. Hopefully we find that stuff! I’ll probably still want to add a few things; but its all very sentimental too.

the weather is on my mind tonite ... we have strong winds, chilly temperature of 28 degrees and it is sleeting too
Really windy and chilly to your South, too, but we don't have the sleet (yet).
We went to the cemetery to put some Christmas stuff up on the gravesites of some relatives yesterday, and we chose yesterday because it was supposed to be 58 and sunny. When we got there it was about 49, cloudy, and windy. We froze. Poor Livie was tucked in my coat and still shivering. 15 minutes after we left, the sun came out, the winds died down and it warmed up.

I put the tree up in the cat-free hallway. It took about 45 seconds, it's pre-lit, doesn't have to be taken apart, and is stored on its base in the storage room all year so I basically just move it, sit it in it's spot, and plug it in.

Tag, Christmas night (2021) when he still looked and felt good. He kept looking into the lobby, and the radio was playing "Do you hear what I hear?" :redheartpump:

Both Christmas night, 2021. Posing with their toys. Livie got a stuffed sloth that she routinely mauls and Tag got a stuffed kitty (ALL his toys were kitties) that he snuggled with while he was sick. I named her Cuddles the Healing Kitty. She sits with his urn now.

I think I finally put a dent in DD's Christmas shopping. It's very weird having her outgrow toys. I get a teacher discount on Thrift Books; so I got quite a few books for her that way. She won't care they are used. And she reads so much; it's worth going that route. I couldn't find as much for DS; but he isn't into series that are old enough yet.

Now to try to figure out what to tell her Grandparents she wants... SIL and I discussed gift cards for book and craft stores. Toy buying days were simpler!

That’s awesome! I just found “Booklender,” which works like Netflix— they mail you either a book or an CD audio book and you return it whenever you like, then the next one on your list comes. Perfect for my ancient & nearly blind neighbor who doesn’t do computers! He’ll just tell me what he wants.

Oh nice! I think DH's grandmother had a service something like that years ago but it was through a group for the visually impaired. She was in her 90s and having trouble seeing so she liked the audio books. I'll have to look it up because you never know when you'll meet someone who could really enjoy something like that!
