My turkey is still way more frozen than I thought it would be at this point. My Mom said to just put it in the garage today. It's not much warmer than the fridge but that's always how she does hers. I've got a thermometer in the garage so I'll know if it gets too warm out there. I guess if all else fails I'll be doing the cold water method. :rolleyes2: So I guess next time I won't use the meat drawer to defrost even with extra time.:rolleyes2:
LOL I read this twice and thought you said your Mom said to put the turkey in the garbage, and then you go on to say it's not much warmer than the fridge (!?!) and you have a thermometer in said garbage (What!?!?) and I'm like "Is this some chef secret I've never heard of!?"

Exactly. It is so ridiculous. I understand that other stores also have that problem. Wegmans and Giant Food always have plenty of carts avalable for their customers.
Not only does it make it difficult for customers to shop but the kids are damaging store property. Seems like it should be a no brainer.

I think the stores are afraid of these out of control people. Like if their employees get hurt it could come back on them. Or if the misbehaving people get hurt the next thing you know they are getting sued too. People are not held accountable for their actions and that's the real problem. And if they act in a "herd" with that stampede mentality....:sigh: Earlier this year a bunch of people stormed a Wawa (gas/convenience store with coffee and subs you can order) in the Philly area and ransacked it. The employees had to just stand there helplessly.

hoping everyone is responsible about any drinking they might do tonight if they arent safe in their own home for thanksgiving
Glad you said. I was designated driver for my Thanksgiving volunteer friend, and on these dark, windy roads I most definitely stuck to coffee.

I don't understand why Walmart doesn't put a stop to the kids doing that. Ridiculous.
Thankfully, here they do. Small town. Manners still count...or more than they do some places! I've seen managers haul kids off of the carts, and ban them from the store.

OH GOD! I laughed so hard that, if I lived with another human, I'd have embarrassed myself! Luckily, Hek is not easily offended....unless her meals are late.

today im thinking about how grateful i am to our men and women in the military that wont be able to be home for the holidays and i have been putting small holiday cards in the ladies letters to bring them joy as well as feel like they are loved during this holiday season
I love this idea. My second great grandmother did something like this and it brought a lot of joy to a lot of people. You're a good person strider rose strider rose . :)

I almost forgot to share my Lola Thanksgiving story. She has a past history of attacking and biting when she is frightened so I had intended to put her in her room before guests arrived. But I was cooking and forgot until my son and his girlfriend came in and I heard Lola’s warning howl that an attack was imminent. Quickly I told them to shut themselves in rooms closest to where they were, son in basement, girlfriend in walk in closet, while I donned my winter coat and thickest gloves. Then I picked her up at arms length and carried her to her room, all the time telling her in soothing tones what a good cat she was for not biting me or anyone else. Bomb deposited without detonating, I was able to go back to cooking.

Love this girl but she can be a challenge.

I sort of worked my way into Christmas decorating. I decided to bring in the thrift store book/display cases that I bought for my dining room so I could stare at them all winter and decide how I want to refinish or paint them. This meant of course emptying out the existing bookcases and taking down my fall stuff. I can’t let the new ones sit totally empty so I guess time to get the Christmas stuff out.
